What is taking so long?!?

I've been in and out of this forum reading everyone's experiences, how long it's taking to recieve our spec'd out 9300's and I see a lot of happy ppl. But seriously, I ordered my 9300 w/ all the goodies and it's been "In Production" for like a full week now. What causes these delays? The phone says "build". Is it the 6800 thats holding it up.

Seriously, one of my friends ordered a Lat d610 or something close to that and got it 6 days later. I'm a week and a day w/o really a single update.

I'm gonna rip my head off (or cancel) if nothing happens soon...

Well not having been through this myself (I just ordered yesterday), maybe my opinion will change, but your estimated delivery is still more than a week away. Does it really matter what your status is on the website? The only time I would be concerned is if my ship date passed and it still hadn't shipped.

Hey, welcome to the club, i ordered my XPS2 on 3/1/05 and it stuck in Production/ "build" stage for a week now also. And the people that ordered a week or more after me got their shipped. I was thinking of cancel my order and re-order it maybe i'll get it by next week

I was in the pre-production stage for almost 2 weeks. Yesterday it went straight into the preparation for shipping stage, and today it has shipped. UK btw.

Maybe i am jumping the gun (excitement, honestly.) But when i read that someone w/ similar specs gets theirs shipped a week after they order, kinda makes me jealous. I need to get this laptop soon so i can use final scratch at my next gig next wed. This compaq im on now doesnt exactly *work well* w/ final scratch (read: it bombs and freezes all the time.)

Anyone use thier 9300 as a DAW workstation or finalscratch/serato platform?
Any threads i should read to get the best audio performace?

Thanks for the info. What kind of music do you play? I've been mixing dnb for about six and a half years now, little hiphop here and there but mostly dnb and ragga. I think i might sell my fs kit and go w/ serato from what a lot of what my boys say and things i hear from ppl online. seems to be rock-solid, and cmon, aint nothing wrong w/ rane

I just want to be able to seemlessly mix from laptop to vinyl and back again. FS was jumpy, never considered using it outside of the bedroom (cant imagine the agony of a blue-screen-of-death during a 12:30 to 2 timeslot.)

Shutter....

The guys over at the serato forums are awesome. Their programmers are moderators there, so any prob you got, they give you individual attention to solve any problems you encounter.

I spin rap/r&b/reggae/a little house, been doing it about the same amount of time as you, but just recently got into the Serato sorta deal, bout 3 months ago.

Good ish, man.

I'm definately trying to take advantage of mp3 promo's in my sets (calls the old vinyl vs. cd stuggle to mind, but). Plus a lot of my ppl from college are producing now and i like to promote my ppl. I mainly bought the 9300 to produce w/ Cubase and reason, and also to use the FS kit (which im thinking is for me these days as it hasnt got any use whatsoever.)

Serato on ebay looks tempting.... I think I need to get my presonus firebox first tho... hmmmmm...

blksqrl187,

I have a feeling yours is stuck waiting for the 60GB 7200RPM drives to show up. That was the last delay and it popped up last weekend, about the time yours entered production. I had one configured with that drive and a ship date of the 4th. It sat in pre-production for a few days and I reordered with the 35% off coupon but changed my mind and went with the 5400RPM 80GB. It took less than two days to get from order to boxing, even with the 6800 Go. My money is on the 60GB drive holding you up.

Good luck.

"Order Delayed" email

I ordered the 60Gb hard drive too!

Just received the "Order Delayed" email. Tried to call yesterday to check on status & talk to a human but, received the 1 hour run around. I could have cancelled yesterday & used the 35% off coupon and saved $400+. Man, I'm pissed!

Hey Todd,

I just ordered a 9300, and I am sad because I didn't get the 35% off. However I did get $800 off by having the XPS and the 9300 in the cart and then getting rid of the xps it kept the 800 off. Not sure how it did it though for sure. I am only missing out on $90 by not ordering yesterday. I will live since it means I will get it sooner.

I was on the phone with Carter from Dell for I think a hour. He is a gamer and wanted to help me get the best for the least since I missed out on the coupon. We fiddled on our comps and I got that 800 in there. I followed his advice on several things.

1. only get the 6 cell battery, he told me for non-gaming, like school work I should get 4 hours of battery life(and I can turn off the ultraview for more battery life when needed) I mean when I play half life 2 or CSS I am going to have it plugged in. I already have a car inverter and I have a cool pad from vantec.

Also I got the 1.86ghz, he said the M are different the the normal P4, that the 2ghz is the same power in processing as a 3.4 ghz (Can anyone comfirm that this is true for me and provide a link to a review comparison????)

I got the TV tuner, why not

I got 512 mb of ram

I can get 1gb of ram from 4allmemory.com for $234 for Dell i9300 with free shipping, this ram is 100% compatible with the 9300 for a much better price, I mean $468 for 2gb, I am psyched vs way more for that on Dell. I am not selling my 512 though, in case I ever have to ship it back to Dell. Don't want to lose my 2gb man!

He said the none true life is just as bright, the true life just makes it more glossy. Though the one with true life has the better resolution so they are different. I got the the true life, and will soon be sparkling! lmao! Not sure if I want to call and request the samsung in a few days to avoid the sparkle.

Oh, and 60 gb 7200 rpm, anything else for gaming isn't worth it, gotta have the speed to get past those slow load times. Otherwise I would just eat junk food more often!

I got the best wireless they offered, I mean my router doesn't have "a" (5ghz instead of 2.4ghz) but I do have the DGL-4300 wireless gaming router! A must have for online games wirelessly. It prioritizes gaming on the network and reduces lag (ping/latency) on routers. Only 144 on zipzoomfly(free ship).

I used to have a x6000 coming from Hp/compaq--Don't ever buy that piece of garbage, the company delayed it a month a week after I was supposed to have it!
