Boxing and memory Question

Hey all,
Just out of curiousity, how long does it normally take for dell to finish the boxing stage for the i9300? Also, I read that some of you guys have recieved 1 Gb stick instead of 2*512 sticks for a 1 Gb memory. What do I need to do to make sure that I will get the 1 stick instead of the 2 512 sticks?

Boxing can be anywhere (from what I have seen on here) 2-5 days... typically 2-3 days.

Can't help yah on the mem issue.

Thank you stripod, but does anyone know about the memory issue?

I dunno about where you are but the Australian website gave an option for 2x512 or 1x1GB when ordering (with the 1x1GB being about $200AUD more). Myself, I initially specced 1x1GB but then changed it to 2x512 when I realized that:

1: The chipset runs dual channel if you have two RAM modules (yes I know, performance boost of around 10% at most - search the threads for a discussion on this)
2: By the time I'd want more than 1GB, that 512 won't be worth $200 and chances are I won't want to go to 2GB anyway
3: I figured I could better spend that $200 on something else ...

There is a couple threads around here detailing this question. 1 Search Delbert's posts. He has a link where 1x1024 DDR2 in non dual channel out performed 2x512 DDR2. Any increase you get from DDR2 in dual channel is negligable in my opiinion since the FSB is already matched to 533. The is also another thread going over the ins and outs of what to run in an i9300. I had the last post in that thread so search from my name to find it.

I got lucky and when I ordered mine Dell UK was doing a double memory promo (1gb for price of 512) and the 1gb just happened to be in the form of 1x 1gb dimm (or at least that's what's listed on my order confirmation and was listed on the shop config page, I'll have to wait till it actually arrives before I'll be sure that's what I'm getting).
