I just noticed that we just beat last October's record in this forum... that is the most users ever online was 1186, Yesterday at 12:58 PM. (Thursday March 24, 2005)

no doubt it's all because of XPS2

I agree... where are they?

probably all fainted from the sheer excitement or just from seeing the Fed Ex guy.

I'm not sure if I can stand tons of disappointed people moaning about their crappy screen. Damn Dell.... I was so excited about reading the comments on this forum when I woke up this morning. From the initial first reactions, it looks like we're going to have a flurry of people flaming Dell and their infinite wisdom.
It's a crying shame... with a rig like that. Now the debating game, cancel it or hope for the best

I'm definitely not cancelling since I know I'm not very picky when it comes to LCD screens. However, even if I do get an LG and it looks ok to me, I will still order a Samsung replacement kit just so I can compare the two and see which I like better.

Which is great for you, but if you're a clueless dweeb like me about doing that kind of stuff, it's not an easy option for me

Ah its not hard I bet you could do it! If you can do a simple task like repairing a flat on a bicycle, you can definitely take apart the LCD bezel. I experimented earlier on my dead i8100 and it was a piece of cake.

Joker, I feel exactly the same way... I'm sure I won't return my XPS2 even though the screen may not look as good as sony xbrite. But of course I'll still be a little disappointed seeing sparkles, leakage, etc...

I've also had some recent practice completely taking apart and re-assembling a Dell Latitude notebook (needed to jump Admin password) so I feel better prepared.

otherwise, there's always an option to have a tech guy replace the screen (if necessary).

EDIT: who knows maybe there's still hope to throw on a xbrite

Well, that's what burns my ass here.... I mean I just don't expect to be having to swap out LCD screens on a laptop I paid 3200.00 for!!!!!! If it were physically defective that would be one thing, but to have to swap it out because Dell puts in some cheesy wannabe??????
priceless.....

I know it's crazy!!!

I also had purchase a $3600 Area-51m 7700 from Alienware back in January, got it in late February and returned it less than a week later because it had problems right out-of-the-box. And, still had to pay 15% restocking fee.

so I guess we can't win.
