I've been planning on getting an Alienware laptop for some time now, and when I saw the $500 discount I decided there was no time like the present. I decided to go with a laptop, since I'm graduating from the US Naval Academy in May and I am going submarines.

Anyway, after a quick chat on the phone with a sales rep today, I'm up to Phase 2. They quoted me a shipping date of two weeks from today; I hope it makes it! Now I just have to find a way to stop obsessing over this thing for the next 2 1/2 weeks. I can hardly wait!

The avatar is a still of the Paladin animated portrait from Warcraft III/The Frozen Throne. I haven't made the jump to WoW yet (we'll see about that after I get my 51m!), so I still play War3/TFT off and on. I almost always play as human on bnet, hence the paly mugshot .

I love Starcraft and the Warcraft series(excluding WoW). They are the hardest startegy games I have ever played. The only way I beat a stage was to cheat. The newer ones are pretty easy... Dawn of War, Command and Conquer Generals, and BFME. I'm stilll a newbie at Rome so I'm still getting used to it. I love the battles, but I hate the world map, It can be a nuissance. I'm waiting for my lappy too so I can finally beat Far Cry and Half Life 2. My comp sucks so bad. I have to use the lowest settings and when I use the night vision in Far Cry, my framerate drops like a mother.

Welcome

I've had my 7700 for over 2 months now and it ROCKS!!!

Congrats Bro! I'd say don't worry about the obsessing, but I'm still waiting for mine. Every three days when mail arrives, I'm like the first one there, only to be disappointed thus far, so I understand your obssesion. Haha! Don't start WoW if you are going Subs... just my 2 cents. I'm over here in Iraq, and I played EQ since it was released, but cannot play it here, so I understand those MMORPG withdrawals! Good luck in your Naval academy!

Keep us posted!

Well, I upgraded the warrenty to the 3 year plan today, figured it would be a good idea since I plan on taking it into a marine environment . I'm also thinking of upgrading the display; when I have it in my room or apartment, I plan on hooking up the standalone 17" LCD I have to it, but when I leave on deployment I'm going to be depending on the internal screen.

The question I have for all of you is wether or not going with the more expensive screen is worth the cost, and do you think it will delay the fulfillment of my order?

The "More expensive" screen is DEFINITELY worth it for the following reasons:

1. Great resolution awesome in games....
2. Super Clear Glass like looks. Looks like Glass....REALLY!
3. Built in Camera

Okay! I called in and got my order changed to the 1680x1050 monitor today. The reps told me that it would only be a 2-3 day delay in my order! *keeps fingers crossed* That would put my delivery date somewhere in the April 13-15th range. Can hardly wait!

Great education there...I think you might want to up your warranty to 3 yr...well worth the piece of mind...I think that will do it for our recommendations as you got a nice rig there..just would like to see you have that extra piece of mind and I know most of the other 7700 guys here would agree

Well, after changing my screen size yesterday, my order has reverted to Phase 2. Doh! Hopefully it will start moving forward again. Now that I have the screen and the extended warrenty, I can't see making any more changes to the thing .
hehe, i am back to phase 2 after changing to the WSXGA also. but i also got an email about the primary batteries being backordered so that could delay my order.

That's interesting...I haven't seen anything about the shortage yet, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I am back up to phase 3 today, though

I just got off the phone with Rodney the sales rep, and he says that my order is now on Phase 9!
That would put me somewhere on cloud 9

I was told my order is on track to be shipped out next Friday, which is the same date I was quoted when I first ordered. It seems the screen change didn't slow it down at all!

Well, I checked my order this morning, and I was still on Phase 9. However, I got back from my practice parade (yut) and checked it again, only to find it is on Phase 13!

It is starting to look like my system will beat it's shipping date of 9 April. I can hardly wait!
