SpaldingEx,
I posted this a few months ago, it was when I was having LCD problems with my i9200 with sparkles. LeeU
After some one wrote that “You shouldn't always trust the opinions of people who refuse to get used to new things -- I'm glad I didn't in this case”. I decided to take my 9200 to work and poll the Rocket Scientist that I work with, yes real Rocket Scientist. There is a few things about Rocket Scientist, all brain cells that should have been marked for writing and grammar where switched at birth to make more math brain cells, so I apologize for my slaughter of the English language as superdood pointed out, two: pocket protectors are a myth and lastly when a new computer shows up around Rocket Scientist its like dropping blood into the shark tank at Sea World, it creates a frenzy.
I had 10 of my co-workers come buy one at a time and look at my 9100 work computer next to my personal 9200, as I said in my first post both have the same video card and both have the WUXGA screens.
I asked the following questions:
1) Which monitor do you like the best? Excluding size.
70% 9100 30% 9200
2) Which monitor is clearer?
100 % 9100 0% 9200
3) Which monitor is brighter?
40% 9100 60% 9200
4) Do you see any shimmering or sparkle effect on the 9100 or 9200?
0% 9100 100 % 9200
5) Does it bother you? (See note below)
70% Yes 30% No
6) Do you think you could get used to it in time?
70% No 20% Yes 10 % Maybe
7) Which computer would you buy, 9100 or 9200? (based on monitor only, not the computer).
60% 9100 40% 9200
Note: The ones that said it did not bother them all had glasses or contacts except our network guy who also has glasses but it bothered him.
We all used to have 21” or 25” big tube type monitors on our desk, now we mostly have 21” LCD high end View Sonics. When I would go to one of my co-workers office to look at something on her computer I would have to always increase her monitor refresh rate as I’m very sensitive to that (I have 20:15 uncorrected vision) but she did not understand why it bothered me (she wore contacts), she had Lasic surgery performed on her eyes and now she has to have very high refresh rates. I’m a bit curious about the others out there that like this monitor, do you wear contacts or glasses? I tried to do this as fairly and objectively as I could. I do believe that direct comparison is the best way to determine if this monitor is a step forward or backwards.
Let the flames begin. LeeU
