How To get a K9922 9300 LCD Replacement

Thread Starter
I figured a lot of people including myself, may need help or advice on the who, what, where, when and how to get the Samsung k9922 replacmentLCD screen.
Is it best to call or e-mail?
CSR or Tech Support?
What are the exact order parts we should use to ask?
Copy of an e-mail to send?

I think some of this will be in the forum, but having it in one place will help!!! Thanks All!

I wish the mods would put up a sticky for this kinda stuff.

I called tech support and had them walk me through a whole bunch of test that were under their protocol. I pretty much just sat there and just told them the answer that they don't wanna hear each time and they finally decided that I had a faulty LCD. That took about 10 minutes. Then he said I will have to send my laptop in to the repid response depot for the exchange and I just told him that I am capable of doing it myself and he said ok. So we set me up for a parts only warranty exchange. I then told him I wanted the W9892 and he said ok, and that took another 5 min. I was off the phone in 15 mins and then the LCD was shipped 6 hours later and arrive the following day. Still amazed at the speed.

Good, soon as my XPS 2 arrives and I discover it's got an LG, i'm going to be on the phone with tech support to order a samsung replacement kit.

How was the switch... Ive built many pc's but i have never taken an LCD off a lappy...

How is the screen now?
Make sure you do it real soon because I have a feeling that Dell is gonna start shipping out the previously returned LG's once they run out of the Samsung replacement kits.

ewwww
I havnt got my xps2 yet.... I hope that damn thing comes asap

How is the new LCD compared to the old...quality and suchwise

What are the technical numbers and such I need, so if i do get a bogus LCD, When I call dell, I can have all the numbers and info they need

joseyu, what happens to the "bad" LCD that's replaced? must it be sent back? if so, do you need a RMA number and do you pay return shipping or Dell?
The switch wasn't bad. Took a total of 45 minutes from start to finish. I think I can do it again in under 30 now because the hardest part was prying the LCD bezel off. I went real slow about it the first time, but I know what to expect now. Anyone with reasonable skills in handling tools should be able to do it.

Dell sends a return mailing label with the replacement. All you gotta do is stick the old LCD or whichever you dont wanna keep back into the anti-static wrap and then into the box and seal it. Remove the sticker and affix it on top of the former shipping label and call DHL for a pick up.

The W9892 Samsung replacement kit that I got, which is the K9922 samsung is much better than my LG. Whites look much brighter and whiter. Barely any light leakage. With a black screen and lights off, I can see a small line about 0.2 inches on the bottom...so not perfect...but negigible....the colors also look as good as the LG with slight adjustment of gamma (0.89).
Since I ordered from SB and I am suspecting that you ordered throught Home, the numbers will be different. All you gotta do is call the regualr Dell too free number and navigate yourself to tech support. The person I talked to was american.

Just keep in mind that getting the k9922 samsung does not mean you are in the promised land of having a good LCD. Other users like mbman, uninspector and luology all got bad quality Samsungs. However, I am glad to say that UNInspector has since then gotten his second samsung and I think he likes it better than his LG and he is keeping the samsung. So there are differences in quality in the Samsung's too, and thankfully I only had to ask for one before I found "the diamond in the rough." Sadly, you may have to try a few times, but time will tell. Good luck.

This is true, what ever I get i just hope its quality... Dont you think xps2 should get the best anyway... thats kind of a given... concidering almost everyone dished out more than $2500.00+ for these things?

I called tech support. Told them the screen was bad. Described it a bit. And then they scheduled someone to come fix it.

If you don't have at home/onsite just insist they send you one to install yourself. Tell them you can do it, and you have the instructions from Dell's website. Be insistent, persisten and polite and assure them you can easily do the replacement yourself.

After a 15min with a person reading a script I have a replacement k9922(confirmed) on the way.

Hint: If you have multiple issues(light leakage, sparkels
dead pixels) only bring up the worst issue(light leakage
theres no argument, sparkling is more subjective and involve a couple tests and hoops to jump thru.
do not mention dead pixels(this is an easy out for them)

Also be polite and respectful(when they send you an lcd
instead of mail in service they(csr) are going out of there way to help you
Happy screen hunting to all
