So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review

One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
I'm going to call tomorrow to see about my replacement. I was wondering what number you guys called to get your replacement? I bought my system through Small Business. I actually really like the LG screen save for the sparkles. I don't really mind the sparkles all that much; I don't really notice it until I look for it. However, I have quite a bit of light leakage which is really quite present at all times. So, I might as well see what Samsung has to offer.
Sparkling didn't come from TrueLife. It comes from an anti-glare layer. TrueLife is an added gloss layer, that actually reduces the sparkle somewhat.
But you're right, nobody has said the WXGA+ has sparkle. However the Samsung screen is really pretty good. And you're giving up resolution with the WXGA. That's not an option for me.
I called today about getting the LCD replaced and they confirmed that it needs to be replaced but said it is not a customer replacable part therefore I must send it in to be done. I have talked to 4 reps now and all tell me the same thing. They also told me that since it has an LG screen it will be replaced with an LG screen. ???????
I have found a few issues with the Inspiron 9300 that was delivered to
my residence today. Each of these issues relating to the LCD display. I
would like to request a replacement.
The first issue is that there is an
abundant amount of light leakage at the bottom of the screen (more so on
the bottom right). This causes a discolored / wash out effect on
anything that is being displayed in that region of the screen.
The
second issue is what seems to be a greasy / sparkle effect on the screen
when viewing bright colors. This not only diminishes the legibility of
text on a white background (or text in general) - where the white is
more of a light grey - but it also diminishes the overall quality of the
display. This notebook is meant to be a replacement for my work machine
and the greasy / sparkle effect is distracting in the copious amounts of
programming that I will be doing.
The model shipped with my 9300 was an
LG Philips and I have been informed that the replacement kit includes a
Samsung model which would hopefully provide better quality overall in
addition to fixing the current issues with my screen.
In conclusion and
as previously stated, I would like to request an LCD replacement kit to
be sent to me so that I can perform a replacement of the screen. Being
fully competent in most areas of computer hardware I do not anticipate
any issues with servicing the replacement myself. I would like to avoid
returning the entire notebook itself as this will be my only work
computer. Thank you for your help.
The first reply from dell gave instructions on how to return the laptop for a refund

I was apparently not clear how I would like to resolve this issue. I need this machine for work and am overall satisfied with the notebook but the display leaves something to be desired. I do not wish to return the notebook, rather, I would like a replacement screen sent to me.
Replacement will be here Thursday. Ordered from Dell Home.

You didnt go through enough people yet. I spent about 4 hours today doing the online chat thing. I cant even guess how many people I went though, but im getting the samsung sent to my house (actually shipped within 2 hours of the order being placed).
What they are sending is part J9662. I asked about the Samsung and they told me it would all depend on what is in stock. I asked about part #W9892 and he told me that he could not find a listing for that part #. This was a supervisor as well.

Ask to talk to a supervisor. That's what I did, and he helped me out better than any regular service rep ever could.
I called today as well, and after talking to half the indians on the plant, I got an american. Apparently, they only have LG's and do not want to send the parts out. I think they may have caught on and are trying to cut losses by only offering that screen for replacacment. AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else have any luck getting one????
I have a W9892 on the way after a quick 20min call
(after spending 45min on hold) to replace the W9891 they
sent out by mistake. Im actually glad they sent out the wrong one first, maybe they will be nice to me
*do these 6 cell batteries normaly only last an hour?*
Mine lasts about 75 min, so it is possible for the 6-cell to only last an hour. I think that people who ordered through SB will have an easier time getting the LCD replacement kit because all the reps are based in the US. On the other hand, it might be possible that they have run out of the W9892 Samsung replacment kit, and they have started to ship out the LG's that were returned by other customers.
Ok, I got my replacement K9922 screen today but its in a refurbished box. Should I even bother to swap this out? Is that what everyone else is getting? If this is someones crappy Samsung they sent back I'm not sure I want to put it in my 9300. Damn you Dell!!

All of the Samsungs are marked refurb. Put it in and see how you like it.
Very slight (as in all laptops I have ever owned or seen).definately less than LG.Only negative is the colors are not as deep so a slight adjustment in power strip and I am one happy camper. How you liking yours Joker?

Mine's great, I'm actually on my 2nd Samsung. BTW if you look really carefully, you may discover that the top left end of the screen is slightly dimmer than the rest of the screen, especially compared to the middle. To alleviate the washed out colors, use digital vibrance, it works great. I found powerstrip wasn't even needed for this display.
