Why all the crying about the XPS and 9300 screens? - Page 2

Nobody is returning their screen just because it's not a Samsung. Screens are being replaced (laptops too) because they are faulty.
We don't expect perfection, but we do expect to get our moneys worth.
This whole thread is ridiculous. It's an irrational, nonsensical backlash against those who have faulty screens.
I suppose Bush lost this election too. hehe.
The word for today is ---DUH.

Sorry, but if you pay more attention you will notice that there are many out there that returned their LG screens because SPARKLES bothered them, or they didnt think it was bright enough or the viewing angle was not good enough! NONE of these represent a defect and that is what makes this soooooo RIDICULOUS.
As a matter of fact, the brainwashing has gone so far that you have those that are ready to return their screens even before they have had a chance to see them. Now that is on the verge of total and absolute absurdity!

You should all be happy with what you get.

Maybe we should open a "I hate my screen" forum?

I'm not trying to hate on anyone but it just seems that that is all people care about.
The screen sucks. Some people are willing to deal with it and others are not. Just because you are willing to "be happy with what you get" does not mean we all should.

I think this thread is directed at the 'herd' and not those who actually have made an objective decision about their LCD's....

You should be happy WITH WHAT YOU PAID FOR. If you paid that much dough, you shouldnt settle for nothing but the best. Thats what I would do alteast. Thats my 2cents.

Exactly. Try it first, if you don't like it exchange it. If you like it keep it.

Again if you read the views carefully, you will notice that both screens suck (compared to maybe an xbrite) and the only difference between LG and Ssung become purely subjective. Ie, better colors vs. better brightness vs. better viewing angles vs no light leakage etc

I don't want to speak for the original poster, but I think the point of this thread was to raise an objection to those who aren't even prepared to even try out their screens. There's a 3 page thread on "who's sending their xps2 back" and the posters there have not even received their machines yet. That to me is just absurd. You've waited this long and paid $3k for a machine that you now refuse to open due to one or two negative reviews? I fully plan on giving my 9300 a shot, and if I'm not happy, I'll send it back. However, I won't refuse delivery just because others aren't happy with it.

Don't you know you can't always believe everything you read..hehe
How's YOUR XPS2...oh, what's that? Oh yes, you don't actually have one...lol
You may now go back to the herd....

This is the crux of the thread in which I disagree with: The above statement--especially--
"You should all be happy with what you get."
That is ridiculous and moronic along with others who are implying we should just be happy no matter what we get.

You know something strange just occured to me. I have an 18 inch ultrasharp dell flat panel and I love the look of this display. But, for the hell of it, I tried doing the bright green background on it and low and behold..........((((( SPARKLES )))))!!! I must say though, I never looked for them before now, and it really does not bother me. I am a photographer and need a highres screen for my work. I guess some people are more sensitive to the sparkle more than others. So, in saying that, when I do get my machine, (hopefully Monday), I will most likely be happy with it.
There are different degrees of sparkle, and people sometimes use the same word to describe different effects. I've seen various degrees of sheen cause by the anti-glare coating on displays, but sparkle on the 9200 LG was a totally different animal:

-- wet-looking splotches randomly across the display
-- the splotches were sort of 3-D holograms floating above the pixel layer
-- the effect would shift around on the display as your eyes and head changed position

Very few people could tolerate the effect. It doesn't sound like it's nearly this bad on the 9300, but I'll probably find out on Monday.

Well i had the 9200 and the sparkle on that was some what ok but after a few day I started to hate it, it started to play tricks on my eyes . I called dell they sent a man out and he changed the screen but to the other cheeper option and did not say anything so I sent it back. the dell xps2 has a glossy screen "what I want" so I hope it comes with the good screen or I will cry you all a river and start a crying thread.so inless you have seen how bad the sparkle has been "9200 with the bad screen"then you will know why people are crying ,also for 3000.00 you want it to be perfect...

Hmm... Are the flat panels for the desktop machines made by Samsung and LG as well? I would love to get my hands on that 24 inch beast Dell is offering now! I guess I'll just have to wait and use the machine for a couple of days to determine if I like the display on it. If not, I'll just ask for a replacement. Its a hassle to go through, but I'm sure that they will make good on it in the end.

I've got the 2405FPW. It is beautiful. Best WUXGA ever! I also had the 2005FPW, and I thought it looked pretty good until I got the 2405FPW.
