How long for Dell to issue Refund?

I'm about to send back a refurbed i9200 since my 9300 finally shipped and I wont be canceling the 9300 order. I'm wondering how long it will take for Dell to refund my credit card for the 9200?

also - The refurb'ed 9200 and new 9300 both cost the same. The 9200 has 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 60gb 5400rpm, WUXGA, 9cell, DVD/RW, wifi, ext. floppy, 9700 128mb.The 9300 has 1.86gb, 512mb, WUXGA, 9cell, CDRW, wifi, 6800go.

I don't game too often...would it be a better idea to just keep the 9200 since it seems like it would be faster and has the dvdrw? Would my refund be delayed if I open the 9200's box and test it out to see which one I like better (or which has better screen)??

thanks for help

what do you guys think about this? I'm currently using the 9300 but since I dont game often if even once or twice a month i'm thinking keeping the 9200 is a better idea? it would be noticeably faster, right?

thanks!

Well, technically the 9200 is faster. But I think the the 9300 uses newer technology. Plus, how many sticks is the 512MB in the 9300. If only one you could always upgrade. Graphics is much better, but since you don't game it wouldn't hurt to go down, but I would suggest you have the best. Again, with the drive you could always upgrade later on. Or you can send it back to dell and get the dvd/rw, but you might need to pay a bigger difference since they are going to say it was used. So, it is practically up to you? I don't know how long you have had the 9200 but it probably has a lot of info on it and it would suck to lose it all, unless the HD is yours, or you transfer files.

9200 is obsolete. keep the 9300.

back on topic, expect around 2-3 weeks for the refund to hit. i called a few times to get some action around it, and they'd had the returned laptop in their hands for 2 weeks before i finally got the refund.

Yep, I got my refund in two weeks also with some calling involved. Last time I checked it doesn't take two weeks to push the "give back money" button which kind of annoyed me (since I used a debit card). It's not circus clowns in a lawn mower driving down to my bank making a deposit.

UPS picked up my 9300 yesterday...So I gather my long "wait" begins..
When did you guys start calling Dell about your refund? 1 1/2 weeks in?

Switch the DVd...

Switch the dvd burner out of the 9200 once the 9300 arrives and put in the cd burner and then return it :P Just kidding, or am I

You need to keep the 9300. I can't believe you even need to think about this one!

I DONT get you guys

Have ye money to burn or something?

I presume you pay the UPS shipping back to Dell and also lose the initial shipping cost (unless free shipping).

Depending on the coupons you used that could be $100. Thats the difference between a WXGA+ and a WUXGA.

On the same topic.... if you receive your laptop and are not happy with the screen due to the sparklies etc... do they requets you send the laptop back or do they send a teckkie to replace it onsite regardless of warranty?

I guess I can argue this with them and threaten a Credit Card retraction since I emailed them before my 9300 hit production and requested the Samsung panel and pointed them at this forum for the reason! lol

No, I didn't pay anything to have my 9300 returned..and there was nothing wrong with it other than I just changed my mind...the initial shipping was free....Dell issued a pickup thru UPS...UPS picked it up on March 21st and I got my credit on Apr 3....no calling , no arguing, no problems....

Yeah my return was pretty painless. Sent the 8600 back, got my credit 17 days from when they received it, ordered a D810, got it 12 days later and I'm very happy.

I can't see anyone being happy waiting for a month...
I'm in that scenerio right now and am HATING life..
Dell just got back the 9300 today so I gather it'll be 15-17days
from today. When I went thru this with HP they had my money back within 5 days of receiving the zd8000. Needless to say..... I wait XPS2 yet so close...yet so far away.........
