Comparing the first screen shown in this thread to the one from the other user shows a very clear difference.
Exactly--I only hope to get something that resembles that other screen.

Do you see sunlight in the first 2 pics? Did I say there was sunlight in the first 2 pics? Are you implying I'm making all this up?

What did I say it was?? Read post number 9.
"Yes, Dell, I have this problem of seeing myself in the screen, what should I do?"
Sorry, I am not implying anything. I did not say that you do not have leakage, I did read your posts, and this was not directed at you.

I was merely answering Toy-Yoda's question of whether we could see the leakage. You stated that there was partial sunlight in one of your posts, that caused me to point out to him that it is hard to tell from the pictures(!) whether it was one or the other.

And yes, looking at the first picture again it looks like mine does in sunlight. Sorry for pointing that out. But hey, it is not me you need to convince, If the screen is not acceptable in real life, then how I see the pictures hardly matters.

Take care!

It's alright.
Yes, the pics represent what my eyes see.

it definitely isn't as pretty with all the imperfections. Anyway, what screen do you have, WXGA or WUXGA?

Picture is a little blurred, but black is black. No light leakage and no dead pixels.
Now, I'm not sure about this, but.... it looks like the upper half of that screen is a bit too perfect... I believe it's fake, unless thompssj post a highres picture proving me wrong.

heh, come on.

Actually, I don’t care if it's fake or not... I just found it strange that the screen looks like it is split in two, where the upper half looks perfectly smooth...

But that said, I might actually have to apologize to thompssj, because I just tried to sharpen that picture, which reveals that the upper half is not perfect... my crappy old LCD just made it look 100% perfect... like the small amount of light leakage in the lower half, just stopped when it reached the upper half. Yes, I too want one of those Samsung LCD's

So... sorry thompssj.

I got my service tag and i have the LG - J9662, Ill have to see if that is accurate, has there been any cases where it says J9662 and you get the Samsung? Just Curious...

Anyways, Im not gonna judge til I get it, I hope i get no light leak or dead pixels though

No, its definitely not fake and yes, if i turn out the lights, put up a black background, and move the icons to the side, there may be what someone would call a 'little' light leakage at the bottom. But I wish you could see it in person, it really is nice and black to me.

I love how awesome the cool, colorful wallpapers you can find look:

WXGA+, 1440x900, 96dpi.

Here's a couple pictures of my Samsung I got replaced:

The light leakage at the bottom actually bothers me the least, and the sparkles aren't really as bad as they look in the picture. They just create a kinda of pattern in the camera. What bugs me is that shadow in the top middle of the screen, and the dark corners. The shaow in the middle of the screen shows up in anything less than white.

And there's this beautiful install job the tech did:

I fixed it myself after he left, but he told me to just yank it out...

What a bugger.

That's using Stardock's WindowBlinds software. I believe it is the theme called Cyrix.

You can go to www.stardock.com and click on the WindowBlinds link. You can download version 4.5 for free. Then you can download a whole bunch of themes from the www.wincustomize.com site and change the look of XP to your hearts content. You can use it for free but will see a banner pop up when you start windows. You can purchase it I believe for 19.95.
