Tell me what you want to know about XPS? Mine will be here Mon before 10:30 MT - Page 2

Congrats, I'm still a long ways away from mine.

Maybe I missed the post but I have yet to see anybody comment on the "watch DVD's without booting feature." Maybe you can report to us on how that works LeeU.
If you're talking about playing a DVD w/o booting Windows...it ain't happening. Windows will boot.
Saw a post about it, yesterday...but I don't remember the thread title but I think it wa specific to this question

Ooops...my bad. Not sure if things are diff. for the XPS...the thread refers to 9300

Perhaps setting it to the same speed as the geforce 6800 in the i9300 will extend the battery life to equal an i9300. Note that I have heard that the 6800 in the XPS 2 is NOT overclockable using coolbits or rivatuner.

I'm getting my laptop soon, so if you don't care, then don't bother.
I am very interested in this test too.

Most of the time I will be using this machine for the daily commute as opposed to out on the test track where I need the horse power.
Can I improve the gas mileage on my Cobra(XPS2) if I lower the pressure on the super charger down to standard atmospheric levels closer to that of the GT(9300)?

Yes that too. I would like a full play by play account of Nalu's activities. Be very discriptive of her hair and report if you can tell if she has freckles on her nose.

I have a digital camera ready, I still have not given Dell this Damn i9200 back so I'll have it hooked up to this web site and the XPS on the side for us to wring out. I have 3Dmark03 and 05 on a CD ready to pop in, I have all of the Dell drivers ready to do a XP format. Make a list of things you want and I'll do it and post back or even better I'll do it real time. If it requires software let me now so I can down load and have it on the CD ready to pop in before the FedEx dude is out of my drive way. We will make our own review and the only cost to you is having to read my bad use of the English language. LeeU
Hi Lee!
I guess the only thing left is the shields that I would like to ask about. How do they attach, are they cheesy plastic or heavier gauge, do they just snap on or is there a latch or sorts, and do they feel secure? ETC.
Thanks

All,
I'm here. I did get it and the LCD is defiantly got sparkles so I'm on with Dell. While I'm waiting I will tell you this it is "BAD A$$" compared to my i9200. As far as the screen X9065 it is better than my i9200 W5412 but not as good as a Y4014. I have run 3DMark05 twice and I'm only getting 4885,4849? I be back soon LeeU

Folks this is a awesome laptop. In a sim that I have for practicing RC airplanes my decked out i9200 has 44 fps, the same settings on my XPS 330 fps. I contacted Dell about the LCD, they have the Samsung that the i9300's have but I have to send it in to have the new LCD put in. I'm going to do it, but I will say that the LG is not that bad, but it could be better. I'm a little disappointed in the bench mark No of 4885, but I'm sure it can be tweaked. The power supply is huge but not as big as my work i9100. I love the aluminum on the lid, reminds me of the Spirit of Saint Louis. Movie DVD's are well awesome, the car wash scene in Charlie's angels is very detailed LeeU

Hey LeeU,

What Sim do you use? I use RealFlight G3. My Desktop system with an AIW 9600XT can't really keep up with it. This is the main 'gaming' type software that I'm getting the XPS Gen 2 for. Do you fly in real life as well ?

WirelessWatson,
I sold all of my G2 stuff and now I use AeroFly Pro Deluxe as I fly all 3D airplanes and AFPD is way better for aerobatics. What do you fly? I fly 35%-40% and giant OMP Yaks. LeeU

At this point I just fly in the simulator. I have a Nexstar trainer 70" wingspan, which I just broke the engine in. I also have a small Cap 232, which I won't be flying for a while. I hope to be flying in real life pretty soon though. The Cap 232 and the Yak 54 are my favorite planes to fly in the Sim. I never used G2, but apparently the 3D characteristics were very poor compared to the G3. I think I've seen a video clip of AFPD, it looked really nice as well.
