Dell customer services says no more LGs!!!

Thread Starter
I just spoke to a Dell Customer Services representative regarding the status of my XPS gen2 and 9300 orders. I asked him about the LG vs. Samsung LCD situation. He told me that he just heard that they will not be using the LG screen in the future and that everything will be Samsung!!!! I can only imagine what kind of a day they must have had in customer service today with all of these postings!!!!!

Has anyone else heard similar news from Dell today?

I wonder if this applies to just the WUXGA screens? I have two 9300's here with WXGA+ screens...one Samsung and one LG and the LG is the better of the two.

I wonder if this took effect in time...

I hope it happened before mine was built :/

I hope that is why I spent 6 days in boxing and have to wait till Mon to get my XPS???? LeeU

yeah, but all the folks who got their XPS2's today got the LG...and most of them love it! No sparkles, great color, etc. etc. The Samsungs some people hate as well...don't know what to believe anymore...would be great if they just quit using ANY screens with glossy goop OVER TOP of the anti-glare coating that everyone hates...

I hope so.

Mine will probably have the LG. Ah well, hopefully I can't see the sparkles and only see the wonderful brightness and colours that some people have said the LG has. I guess the worst case scenario is to get a tech to replace my screen the next business day.

I'd rather have sparkles than light leakage and dead pixels. I'm keeping my LG.

That's what I plan to do. If the LCD is unsatisfactory, and it's the LG, I'll make 'em do their at-home service for me. Get one of them Samsungs. I'm optimistic about this though....I'm still in boxing (I went back to build for a second last night). Regardless, I'm confident I'll get a good samsung from the start. Just a feeling.

You're not even curious about the Samsung? If mine is LG I'm gonna ask for a Samsung anyway just to see the difference.

Yeah you can, should be in your Dell account under My Systems and Peripherals.

This sux. I was hoping for the LG. All of this Bullsh*t hysteria, and now I don't get the screen I want. This makes me very angry.

Well now that I've been told there are LG screens that do not have sparkles I'm completely confused as to what to do now.

...and my 7200rpm drive is clicking....

Right. Why not? Rather than have them send the tech, though, I'm going to just have them cross-ship a new screen so I can install it myself...that way, I can take a nice long time to judge between the two, and replace the LG if the Samsung is worse...If they send another LG, I'll just keep getting screens cross-shipped until I get a Samsung...who cares? It's their dime and my time...

It says - 320-4259 17IN TRUE LIFE,WUXGA,GWVA,IXPS-G2, What is that? LG or Samsung?

What kind of clicking? Is it the 'drive dying imminent' clicking noise, or just the Hitachi-clicking noise? The later is something there's a driver update for on the Dell site (at least under my XPS1 service tag number), while the former is...well...death! Generally, the Hitachi bug is higher-pitched than the 'click of death' noise...
