Nobody knows...that's just the generic Dell 'code'...not the part number...part numbers for the XPS2 are unavailable online...you'll have to wait for your packing slip to arrive...

Generally, the Hitachi bug is higher-pitched than the 'click of death' noise...
Just a bug clicking noise. I didn't realize it was driver controlled. That should be easy to fix.

It is funny, I called and got the service tag number from Dell, then tried to put it into the support page and it tells me does not exist.

I haven't gotten mine yet but I asked for a service tag and it says -

1 J9662 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LENGTH/LONG

Sounds like sparkly LG screens will become a collectors Item.

same here... I've been trying to check my system configurations under my account by using my service tag since my XPS2 shipped yesterday but no luck!

It seems they don't want us to know what screens we're getting.

once I get my XPS2 I'll be comparing the screen to my Inspiron 8500 WSXGA+ Samsung LCD which is pretty sharp!

See if you can enter your service tag number here - Dell System Info page - and see your system.

Thanks!

still no luck... I get that same error: "Please ensure the service tag entered is valid."

I also keep trying here under My Systems & Peripherals...

http://support.dell.com/support/syst...ppid=mysupport

And, I've also tried under My Order History, which does list my XPS2 order number but when I click on it I keep getting a web page error that opens another window stating "The page cannot be displayed"

https://membership.dell.com/DellPort...=en&cs=19&c=us

I think they're afraid of us seeing these LCD specs.

No luck either with trying to retrieve my invoice online here:

http://support.dell.com/support/dell...=19&l=en&s=dhs

However, I can retrieve my a copy of packing slip online here:

http://support.dell.com/support/dell...=19&l=en&s=dhs

which only shows LCD as 320-4259 - 17in True Life Wide Screen UXGA,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2

Here's a bite, I took delivery on a 9300 with LG wxga screen last Thursday and the screen is just about perfect. No light leaks, no more glitter than any matte screen, very even distribution of light. But HO! I'm running it through its paces testing battery life by playing DVDs and after about an hour, the cd-rw/dvd player starts to lose sync. Just jumps in video stream at first, the starts to stutter video and audio, then just lock up and the player has to be closed to get out of it. I tried several DVDs and they all play the same. Carumba!! I don't want to send it back, but I can't keep it with a bad player. I'll call Dell and see if they won't send a new player I can swap out.

I too would try to work it out with dell. Dell is great when it comes to pleasing their customers! I had an F'd up dvd player, called in when through standard prodocol and junk with all the questions, but 10 mins on the phone, they shipped me a new one. I woke up the next day, and it was on my porch...

However, does the dvd player start getting flakey on bat? It may not be a drive problem??

Heres another thing, changing topic, I didnt want to double post...

So, your order got shipped? We went into boxing at the same time, my order status hasn't changed.
