Thread Starter
Well, the Catalyst 3.7 drivers cause the same issue as the Omega drivers on my 5680. They cause my hard drive to run sporadically and slow down the feel of my system. My hard drive goes crunch..crunch..........crunch..crunch, continuously and selecting anything on the screen causes a pause of a second or two before I can select anything else. I got 10129 on the 3DMark 2001 (which is the lowest I've gotten yet) and 13.6 on the Spec7.1 (which is pretty good).

Hey, if you're having problems with a hot pixel, check out the thread i started a while back, can't find the link right now, but it's titled Dead/Hot Pixel Issue. Basically, you just rub it, and hopefully it will go away eventually. Right now, my hot pixel is actually fading into obscurity, every day it's getting smaller and i'm getting happier!!

Nice; I dont know if I want to try anything. Mine is (again) white, so its still a hot pixel. But, white is the best turn-out, in my opinion. Thus, I probably won't touch it in fear of turning it into a red or blue pixel (that would suck ).

I am using the Cat3.7's on my 5660 and have no such problem...works just great!! BF1942 smoother and faster than ever before...

I am still miffed with the IRQ settings...

Can you guys check and lemme know if the Sound card and Radeon 9000 are sharing the same IRQ??

Also - make a list of devices that are sharing IRQ 11 and disable the ones that you dont need.

The sound card is seriously slowing down my games and causing occasional grabbing and graining of the image - I intend to use an external sound card if this cannot be fixed...

So would you just download the standard Catalysts as if you were getting them for a desktop?

Looks like they cleared that IRQ issue up...the radeon is sharing the IRQ with the USB controller but thats not a big deal...

In the earlier 56XX series here is a list of hardware sharing the same IRQ #11 :-

IEEE 1394 Bus Controller (Firewire port??)
Modem
Realtek Sound Card
PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter
USB Bus controller

Thats a LOT of crap on one IRQ...And I have no idea why this happened XP Pro doesnt allow you to clear it up either...

But it looks like they've modded it this time..goody!!

what about the battery life?
I havent had the chance to cycle the batteries enough to tell the battery life accurately. So far my primary has been cycled twice and my secondary once.... Ill do more cycling and tests when I have time.
