ATI X300 Shocker: may have no dedicated memory! - Page 4

"HyperMemory is also a feature of the X300 mobile GPU."

The GPU is part of every X300 chipset.

ATI sells this chipset to Dell.

Dell's X300 has Hypermemory.

The positive part about this is. If the Dell X300 has 128 MB dedicated ram, it tops that off with ram from the System ram. This is ok IMO.

LOL!! With these laughably incorrect statements you show that you should be ignored, because you just don't know what the friggin' hell you're talking about. Now please go away, sonny.

For the more intelligent here: Dell's own website shows that they are using the HyperMemoery card on this page.

I quote: "Up to 128MB of system memory may be allocated to support graphics, depending on system memory size and other factors."

If this is from a Dell 6000, then we are being sold a card with 32MB of RAM, and it steals up to a further +-96MB from system RAM. Oh - my - god.

Please run this on a 6000 asap.

Lets not let facts get in the way of conjecture
wait you say the 915PM chipset does not support shared graphics memory?? Then how does the intel 900 integrated graphics card that uses shared memory on this very board work?

Sheesh and you want to say it is common sense..... I think you need to go watch some more mr wizard.....

Because the shared memory solution uses the 915GM chipset, assclown.

Let's not pick on yeoman. This thread will be looked at by a lot of people. Let's keep the thread nice. Ok ? Please.

the Intergrated Graphic version i6000 use 915GM....

and using 915PM does not mean it can't share system memory anyway...Hyper Memory is a technology utilizing the PCI-Express bus.

edit: wrong pic

Oh boy, your face is going to be so red when you realise you're wrong that you'll have to change your handle in this forum. So instead of "Yeoman", how about "Sloeman" (sloe = slow, geddit? .. nevermind).

dlinkin, I am imaging the HD right now to switch from this crappy WD harddrive Dell sent me to a Fujitsu they sent me. Let me finish imaging it and I will run rivatuner on my I6000d that has the x300 128bit card.

May not be till morning that I can do this since my drive is about 50gigs full and I am making the image over the network with high compression.

But I will do it so maybe it will help solve the mystery. I for one hope it does not have the shared memory but if it does the laptop will go back to Dell. If it does not then I will be a happy panda. But it looks like the information at hand right now is pointing more to the it uses the system ram in my eyes.

If the 128mb x300 card does not have dedicated memory, I'll glady change my name.

Shifting goalposts! That's not the argument! The card may only have 32 or 64MB of dedicated memory, and is sold as 128MB. THAT'S the argument!
I tried it and it doesn't say anything about "64-bit RV370 with 32MB DDR memory".
Picard can you post a SS of it by any chance? I still have a bit to go on the disk image and would help this thread.
It would be interesting to know just what it does say.
