i see, does the battery stick out in some ungainly manner, where exactly is the battery port on the bottom of the i6000 anyway
i'm getting a laptop for school for writing papers while i'm in the laboratory and i'm considering either the 700m or i6000, the extended battery is needed cause there's no outlets in the room i will be working in
The 9-cell battery doesn't stick out or anything. I think it's the same size as the 6-cell but probably heavier (I haven't had the 6-cell). The battery is located on the bottom, not in the back like the i700m
How long should one 9-cell bettery last? My 6000 with 9-cell primary battery can only last up to 3:45 hours with half-bright LCD, wireless OFF, graphics set to max battery, just basic surfing (with ethernet) and CPU clocked down to 302MHz.
I get around 5.5 hours with brightness at about half or one notch higher, wifi on, surfing the web listening to mp3s, email, chat, and what not. CPU is at 1.8ghz for what I know and this is on the 9cell battery.
My real test of the battery torture was playing WoW (world of warcraft) on battery power over wifi with a usb mouse and I got close to 4hrs this way.
Whoa! So i think i have a defective battery. I will call Dell about this.
hmmm i dont know how they will be helpful, regarding battery issues, they will most likely tell you its your fault (wear and tear on battery, which isnt covered) unless you have Complete care and you say you spilled water on it
I've talked to Dell India rep guy and they are shipping me a new battery. I'vewasted my time in the Dell chat. Those knowledgeless Dell chat people kept on insisting that the 9-cell can only provide a maximum of 3 hours!! They were giving me Dell website link to prove this and the page they are giving me is 1.5 years old! They insist that the power management of 2003 notebooks are the same as notebooks nowadays. pathetic!
