Canadians with XPS2 delays - Page 11

That doesn't make sense that you wouldn't have a tracking number. If Puro picks it up, they bring it back to the depot where they load everything onto a conveyor. A sorter checks the address code and directs it accordingly as it passes by. They have these high-tech bar code readers that can scan the label as long as it's not facing downwards (obviously). The package is now scanned into the system and moves along to the container bound for Canada where a loader packs the trailer. The trailer arrives at the Canadian depot and is offloaded again onto a conveyor and scanned. Again, a sorter directs the package to the right place where it's placed on another trailer if it's going to a city or a puro truck if its in town. It's scanned again by the loader before being put on the truck.

So I'm confused as to how Puro knows where the package is if there is not tracking number. Maybe it's possible that Dell sends a special container full of only Dell shit to Canada using another carrier that isn't tracked through Puro. I don't know...can only guess at this point. Hopefully your computers are en route with the rest.

Still no word on my system. It was picked up April 1st, but the package still shows as LineHaul US and no details are available. I called Purolator and they said that for the information to be updated the parcel must be scanned first, and that this likely won't happen till it hits the border. So I guess I'll just assume that it is in transit somewhere in the US on its way here...

I worked the night shift at Purolator so we began unloading all the trailers that arrived during the day at midnight. Packages will start being scanned right at midnight so if the truck made it to the depot then we'll get our laptops tomorrow. Not holding my breath though and I can't wait up all night to check the status...

Well, if it was shipped on the first, you would think that it wouldn't take anymore than 3 days to hit the border.

Dell says ours were shipped on the first, but I didn't get my first scan until 15:55 on the 3rd. If they left Texas on the 1st, they'd surely be here by now. Tomorrow would be a miracle...Thursday a blessing...Friday at the latest.

I can live with Friday as a worst case

Well no updates as of this morning -- looks like it will be Thursday or Friday for our XPS2's (I REALLY hope it's Thursday, since I work Friday afternoon -- and if the XPS2 arrives Friday morning, I really won't want to go to work).

No love this morning.

Same here...no change in status...not coming today fellas. It's getting harder to concentrate on work here. I've never had so much anticipation for a computer before, let alone had to wait for one.

All I have to say is when I opened it in front of my wife who was gabbing on the phone she exlaimed "Honey, it's huge!". "Damn right it is!" I retorted. She really dug the lights and fact she could surf in bed. She wasn't crazy about the 1920 res but I downloaded a HD clip off Windows MEdia 10 site and showed her what true High Def looks like. The 17" doesn't compare to the 24" in terms of brightness and contrast. There are no sparkles or light leakage on the 24. The notebook's screen wasn't so impressive when surfing, but looked awesome when I loaded HL2 at full res. I had to uninstall Norton INternet Security because it was preventing me from logging on to Steam. I just went through the Add/Remove progs and removed unnesseary junk. I bought a separate D-link laptop Wi-Fi card becuase of the better range than the included dell internal card. It also has extreme-G 108Mbs that works with my extreme-G D-link rounter.

There were no dead pixels I could see after setting the windows background to white and scouring every square inch. The 60gig HD is fast but will fill also fill up fast. I bought an external MAxtor 300GB 7200 - 16MB buffer USB 2.0 to store most things. The only complaints I have were the fact that the metallic lid had quite a few scratches on it. I think it was assembled by Edward Scissorhands. Those are my impressions so far.

Thanks for the quick review Elvis...I might have to pick up an external HD as well.

Don't you love it when a girl says "Honey...it's HUGE!"??? LOL

Yep, you won't see any changes until it hits Canada.

Mine says it was scanned on Sunday at 15:55, probably like all of yours. Just had Dell call puro and she came back and said that it wasn't actually shipped untill monday and I shouldn't expect it untill Friday or Monday. I was hoping to clock some serious CS:S time over the weekend, with intermittent study breaks (probably should learn the Dentistry I'm paying a fortune for!!). Oh well, here's to hoping that we'll have her on Friday!

PS- Don't bother phoning Purolater (worst customer support ever) they won't tell you anything, have Dell do it.
Awwww....crap! That sucks hairy ass that it wasn't shipped until Monday...
That doesn't suck as much as my story. I'm currently on hold with Dell. They just called over to Purolator again to find out if they had some waybills for me, and Purolator can't find it. Puro is saying it didn't ship! Un****ing believeable. So now I'm on hold while the customer care csr talks to his supervisor.

I guess that explains why I didn't get waybill numbers like you guys.
Yeah...I shouldn't complain dude...you're in a much worse spot than I. It's ridiculous that they would set the status to shipped and not ship it!
Oh, hey. They're going to re-order it for me. Woohoo!
