Canadians with XPS2 delays - Page 16

Sounds like a heat related issue

WOOHOO!!!
My XPS2 shipped yesterday.

Expected to still take up to 10 days to get here...... unless "Fate" somehow intervenes.

Right on. Thanks! Enjoy.
WTF is the secret to your absurdly low prices?
That one evalue code was incredibly low.
The upgrade to the 2.13 was not possible.
That setup was exactly standard for the evalue code setup, except for the 3 year Completecare(which I added).
The 80 Gig(I wanted 7200, 60GB) was the only choice.
The 2915 wireless was included 'free'.
It priced at just over 3K CDN..... and then Fate pointed out that you qualify for 10% off if a company you work for uses Dell. My wife is an employee of AMA(who uses exclusively Dell products) and so I cancelled and resubmitted with the evalue coupon and the 10% partnership discount.
The system was priced at under $2500 CDN. delivered with the standard 1 year warranty.

But you are right - almost too hard to believe that low, compared to the pricing since then.
I believe Fate's ill-fated system should be priced very much the same.
Yes it is (was) priced about the same, and I've received a further 10% off for all the grief they've caused me. So now I'm at $2190 before taxes.

Honestly, I don't know if they ever check to see if you actually work for a partner firm or not. Just go to www.dell.ca/partners and go from there.

The E-value codes that they are giving out now are no where near the deal that was on when we ordered. I was looking at the one from last Friday and after using that code, and adding components to get the same as what I have on order, the cost was over $3200 before taxes. It was an insane deal and think it will be a while before you see something similar.

Ordered March 21
Arrived April 11.

First impressions: disappointment, buyers remorse etc etc.

Nice solid case.
Screen has white light leakage on the bottom 5mm and up 1/3 of the way on the sides. The sparkles are really sparkly. I want it replaced!

Playing back movie DVDs look really really grainy (MCE 2005).

The lights are annoying and no way to turn them off following the instructions in the manual (Quickset only had power management in it).

I will go on but in another thread.

As for evalue I used it and got $2500 before taxes and shipping. Is it too late to ask for a partial refund because my company uses Dell?

sorry to hear that. I love mine! Turn the lights off in the bios or on quickset

Thanks for all the support guys. My original showed up today. After about 2 hours, I'm loving it.
Na, i don't think they check the place that you work is on the list. I ordered an XPS 2 (check sig) and got a real good deal. I put a name off of the top of my head in the company box and no one asked any questions. Paid $3200CAD with taxes. Not as good a deal as some by the look of it though.

That's awesome!

Now I am the one that gets to wait for an XPS2!

Glad you like it. Post some of your impressions once you've played with it a bit.
Fate...so glad to hear that your machine finally arrived!! So was it worth the wait? Mine sure was...although I have this brutal light leakage on the left side of the screen. I have to just not look at it from the left about 45 degrees. Right in front I can hardly notice it.

Other than that, this laptop is everything I thought it would be and more!

Brothers in Arms is simply sweet on this screen...awesome game.
Okay, have now spent the last 9 hours on this machine (wife my be getting a little concerned) and I friggen love it. It's awesome! A little like leak on the bottom but I couldn't care less, only see it on a black screen. Sparkles? What sparkles? Wow, what a screen. UT2K4 and Dawn of War at 1920x1200 full details look absolutely stunning. BIA is now loaded, going to take a look right away.

Definately going to have to reformat, but that's for another day. Got a bunch of Dell's crap off, but still lots there. For now, just going to enjoy it.
Amen, Fate...

I get to spend about about 15 hours a day on this lappy...Just had a nice 3 hour bout of BIA

Thanks for the XPS2, boss! LOL

Ok, so now I need to vent about Purolator delivery to Canada.
My XPS was shipped April 9 and Puro had this to say then:
"In Transit in U.S."

Now, on April 13, Puro has this to say(please note the similarities!):
"In Transit in U.S."

I called them to inquire what the dealio was.... and they said this would be the same until it entered Canada.

WTF kind of online tracking is that???

And so ends my rant....
It sucks, but they will keep telling you 4 business days to go from Nashville to reload in Canada. You'll get no more info. It'll probably hit a depot tonight as for the past two weeks that's when everyone else's did. You'll get it tomorrow or Friday...0r sometime next week if you live in BC and for some unknown reason they send it to the Toronto Depot instead of the Calgary depot.

FELLOW CANUCKS! Our thread has died a horrible death...I keep checking back here to see if anyone writes anything about Canadians with their XPS2s....SO....how is everyone enjoying their lappies??

I've traveled twice with mine...once to New York and once to BC. I haven't gone through security yet without someone commenting on how awesome this laptop is. I must admit...I get chills pulling it out of the XPS backpack and putting it in the tray to get scanned...everyone says "sweet laptop" or something to that effect. I haven't pulled it out and used it on the plane yet though. My flights were less than 4 hours and really crowded so pulling it out of the upper bins would've been a challenge. I do wish I had a bag that allowed it to fit under the seat in front for easy access.

This is the best computer I've ever had...best built and top notch components. I haven't been gaming as much (stuck in second last chapter of Brothers in Arms) as I would like...I haven't been excited about many games out right now. WoW and Guild Wars look cool...but too addictive! I'm a single dad with a 5 year old daughter so I don't have oodles of time for gaming.

Anyways...hope you guys are doing well and enjoying the heck out of your lappies...

Cheers
