Hi people I am 17 and going to college next year,
I want a laptop for up to £1200,
I want a powerful laptop with good graphics and memory
yet light with a relatively good battery life (would be happy with being able to watch full film)
I am thinking of ordering this laptop today, what do you think?
I would appreciate any help,
thanks
heres the website

I chose "No" because I think someone should only buy a laptop when he knows for sure he needs/wants/will use that laptop. If you have to have a public poll on the internet to gauge the feelings of strangers as to whether or not you should get a particular laptop - then I think your heart/head aren't with it and you shouldn't spend that much money on a laptop you're not sure you want.

Please read this thread: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=72162

1) You are going to college "NEXT" year. Thus your need and justification for wanting a laptop is for school. However you have also justified when that need will take place, next year.

With that, it is a waste of money purchasing a laptop now, unless you intend to make full use of it through the summer time. Otherwise, wait until next year about a month before school start to purchase a laptop.

Technology waits for no one. You buy a laptop now, you will regret it as newer and better one comes out. Buy a laptop when you feel you could use it and take advantage of it.

If you plan to use it throughout the summer, the best bang for the buck seen to-date is

1) Asus Z71V
2) Acer 8103/8104
3) Dell i9300

Look at this thread for the popular laptop released on Sonoma platform to date

a company called AJP sells a rebranded version of the z71v in the UK. You could try that.

Also Evesham.com sells the Z71V in UK - They call it Voyager C510. Check the reviews section on their site - the prices are a fair bit cheaper there than the regular prices!

I never spent this much money b4

Why are you buying the laptop now when you're going to college next year?

You'll regret it when new technology comes out next year.
mate just look at the laptop. Do you think its a wise choice getting one far away when you can get the same in the U.K. Go out and by the Evesham Voyager C510 its a safer bet than getting one from Gericom who ever they are. Maybe costs a bit more but at least looking at the review from PC-Pro your not getting any crap and a good warranty. Just sit back, relax and give it a good think.

That looks alot like the Asus Z71v, but the exterior is different... its a great notebook but I'm not going to tell you if you should buy it or not.
