World of Warcraft on 9100

Hi every one,

Just a quick one, ive been pllaying all sorts of games on my 5 month old 9100 without issue..

Im now playing wow and im getting very annouying results.

Im running the game via the laptop screen at 1600 * 1050, ive got al things set to low and level of detail ticked, everything else below that is on default.
I am not in windowed mode,

My system spec is p4 3.4ghz, gig, 7200 60 gig hd, 9800 256 ram.

I am running 2 month old Omega drivers for the G card and a 2 month old install of Windows XP with all the latest patches.

I have disabled my anti virus.

Now when in game im running at about 40-60 fps but moving about i get about 25 fps and then in fairly busy areas i get about 16fps with full on raids down to 7fps.

The fans on the unit dont sound like its going mad, there aint that much heat being chucked out the back either.

A while ago I did over clock the g card via the software settings to 400 mem, 400 cpu speeds but it made very little diffirence.

Do you have any suggestions, the big thing for me is that it makes very little diffirence if I run at 1600 * 1050 or 11024 * 768 res....

Not sure about WoW but I am not having any problems running EQ2 on my 9100. i do run it on an external monitor at 1024x768 (doesn't run bad at 1280x1024 if I remember rightly). Settings aren't at the lowest either (one below balanced, with all showdows disabled). I've got the 9700 and only a 2.8.

I am a WOW addict and I play on both my laptop and my desktop. When I play on my laptop I am doing so via my wireless connection. The problem you are describing has been a big problem for all WOW players. I personally know someone who works for Blizzard, and they are constantly working on their servers trying to work out the lag issues. I work with 5 people that play WOW and we have all experienced horrible lag at different times playing the game. In my experience the lag issues have been getting worse as of late. In fact last night lag was a big problem until I entered an instance. You can see my current config for both my PCs in my sig. In WOW you don't need as robust a video card as you do for games like DOOM and Half-Life since the graphics aren't as intense. I have heard that if you have more RAM that may help. If you are where a lot of other people are playing the game you are gonna have lag problems. Also if you are on a server with a high population you are going to have problems. Since WOW allows you to set up multiple characters on different servers how about setting up a character on a low population server and see if you still have lag problems.

In summation I would say the problems you are having are not because of your PC but because of either Blizzard's servers, or maybe a poor connection to the net.

That's really odd, you have exact same setup as me except you have the faster processor (I'm 3.2). First thing i myself would try is reinstalling the omega drivers, completely uninstall and then reinstall. 2nd would be disabling the onboard sound and trying the game out (just to rule out a driver issue).

Are you running any custom UI modifications?
