I see the 7422 has an svideo out. What about sound ? Is there a way to hook the 7422 up to my big tv so I can play dvd's and/or games like WoW.

Thanks,

Sound you'd have to use a Y-Adapter to get to go from the headphones into the RCA jacks on the TV. S-Video out to S-Video in on the TV. And then cyle through Fn+F4 and you're good to go.

What kind of resolution should I set this thing at to make it look best on my 57" Mitsu tv. Will the svideo connection allow a wide screen picture like the notebook's screen ?

Please tell me all your tips and tricks.

Output resolution is usually 800X600 max for S-Video. This all depends on the video decoder used though. Shouldn't have to do anything with the notebook or the tv when you hook it up. You can try 1024x768 but I don't think it would work. If it does then the image would be squished on the screen and fuzzy. Check you tv manual to see what the highest resolution it is capable of. I have a 27" RCA tv but the manual calls it a monitor because it it is capable of displaying 800x600 lines of resolution. Many newer tv's do now however but the older ones just used the 330 lines. Just hook it up and experiment.

The TV video output of these machines is 1.33 aspect ratio and underscans quite a bit. So, no widescreen and a black border on all 4 sides, unless your TV can zoom or mask to accomodate these shortcomings. But you can get the TV out to work with any of the available resolutions, the image will pan if the screen isn't 4 x 3 ratio. The actual output of TV mode is limited by the NTSC standards.
