just got it. initial impressions r good, not blown away. remember im comparing it to my dell 8600.

screen looks fine, no sparkles. definite light leakage from the top and bottom. but very slight, only about 1 cm. and on the main screen it is dark on the lower right hand side. dont notice it when other windows like notepad r open. am connecting it to the internet now to load pwerstrip and other stuff.

BUT..
there is a a clicking noise. even when idle. dont know if its the hard drive or the fans. 2-3 clicks after every 6-7 secs. none of my previous comps. has this. cant keep the comp. if i cant fix that problem.

ill keep u updated.

Some people have reported that the clicking is fixed by a driver update from Dell. You might want to see if that fixes it.

Clicking huh? I did hear the clicking once I think. Havent heard it since though. Used the XPS2 for about 2 hours at school and heard no *click*. The second time I booted it up it did click about once or twice, not again yet though.

I just pulled mine out of the box, screen looks fine, no sparkles, have hardly any light leakage, less than a cm (as in chemicalali's review). Whites look fine to me, did the green background affect looks fine.

I do have clicks and sounds like the HD reading. It has stopped then doing work it clicks, so sounds like its the HD. If there is a driver fix that would be great to use to fix it.

If you dont see sparkles, its possible you have a samsung. Do a powerstrip test for us. Though I have to admit it was hard for me to see any sparkle affect at first as well.

im trying to get rid of some of the crap now. mcafee is popping up everuwhere. can someone point me in the right direction as how to COMPLETELY get mcafee of the system.

oh and driver fix would be helpful too, i dont remember reading that anywhere.

3d marks of 4917, stock. anyone figure out the clicking issue yet. the thread about it doesnt mention a driver fix on dell's site.
