Should I just go 9300 xga?

Thread Starter
I have a 9300 uxga in my possesion (I wrote about it yesterday), and wrote to Dell support regarding the horrid display.

I received an answer yesterday that was pretty boiler plate. The tech wrote that their machines have the highest resolution in te industry and how their machines are built to this industry standard that he spoke about.

Short of it...he said that he would not be able to replace my display because it was functioning as it should (even though I referenced the light leak at the bottom of the screen and the terrible looking sparkles).

He offered to replace the unit wit the xga display. I have yet to write back.

My question to all of you (mainly those that have the 9300 xga) is do you think the 9300 with the xga (wxga) display would be similar to that of my old laptop...an Insp 8200? I am quite satisfied with the display of this 8200 even though it is not as nice as the new Toshiba's I have seen? I can handle working on this 8200 display, but not the wuxga 9300.

Is the 9200 xga going to look like the 8200? Will there still be the significant "sparkle" on the 9300 xga? I'm not a gamer...am a web developer and deigner...I stare at the white screen most of the day...I want it white, not sparkly grey.

I would like to go Toshiba except that I can't get near the machine as the Dell for anywhere near the price.

Thanks for the help,

Lynn

I don't see any annoying sparkles on my LG WXGA+ screen. It's a non-issue for me.

If you're annoyed by the WUXGA screens, then maybe you'll be annoyed with the WXGA+ screens as I surmise it's the same screen (aside of resolution, of course) with just a gloss cover on it....

I have the LG WXGA+ and if you're looking for white whites, you won't get it there. Maybe the samsung is better in that respect? I don't know how the WUXGA looks, but on the WXGA+ there is definitely a silvery finish to all whites and light colors. For some uses, it's a great effect, but for others, not so good.

the WXGA+ Should be better than the most of the other displays on the inspiron line minus the WUXGA True Life

The LG XGA+ that I have does that that shiny finish to light colors. I was complaining about it but my girlfriend said it looked "pretty" so I guess it all depends on what frame of mind your in. Its really not annoying unless you purposely stare blankly into a light color and I don't even notice it anymore. If I don't like it I always have that year to have them send me a Samsung.

I check out a WUXGA screen and a WXGA screen and I am probably going with the WXGA screen because the WUXGA screen's text is a bit too small for me. But, this is just my opinion.
