WHY do I keep getting crap screens??????????????????????????????

I got my 3rd 9300 today. The light leakage is worse than the 2nd 9300, but at least there aren't any dead pixels.
Are 90+% of WXGA 9300 screens really bad as far as light leakage???
3 really bad screens in a row is way too much of a coincidence.
I really don't expect perfection(for you naysayers)
Don't the refunds take a while to go through?

For refund stories just go to Dell's refund support forum.
Looks like 90+ days is typical. :\

I got my 9300 yesterday and the leakage sucks, particularly at the bottom of the screen.
They're coming out to replace it later this week.

Other than that the computer is awesome!

I got my system today... got an LG screen..J9962..... There's minor light leakage at the bottom.. but it's not very distracting..

The colors and the screen is wonderful!!! The sparkle in noticeable.. but I can live with it!!

You guys are very lucky---I'm trying to convince myself to like it--for the 3rd time.

OMG! I never thought that when people were complaining about a light leakage, it would look like that!

Dude, thats a joke, The whole laptop is like a charm, and the most important part of the thing is defective like that, this is terrible.

Sorry bro your laptop's screen is like that. Maybe we can start somesort of class action lawsuite lol (remember, the lawsuite is the NEW american way lol)

But seriously, that thing doesnt look nice. Even an amatuer who knows nothing about pc's can notice that leakage.

Return it. I would do it again, and again, until they get it right. Then at the end when you have returned 5 laptops lol, theyll probably give you a discount

PS. I really fell like doing this to dell right now. haha

I have a little light leakage on my LG WXGA+ LCD, but it's fine when watching movies and the like. The pics below are a little overexposed and don't accurately show the backlight...which is less than this...but still observable from further side angles.

What bothers me most about my LCD is slight corner shadow "illusion" (coating?) on the left...it looks like a finger print smear of vaseline or oil at certain angles. At straight on viewing angles you can't see it, but when viewing slouched on a sofa, you can see it! I'm think of replacing this for this reason alone. Other than that, I'm fine with the screen. Question now becomes whether to go with the Samsung (more light leakage problems) or with LG (

A comparo with my 15" VPR Matrix (Best Buy branded) notebook:

Photo is a little overexposed but you can see slight leakage from bottom and left:

My reference is my 24" Dell Widescreen:

Another reference is my Dell 20" Widescreen

What did you tell Dell to get it replaced three times? I assume you are doing the replacement yourself so maybe having Dell send you a replacement is NOT a good idea since those screens are refurbs. Do you think when techs come over to replace it they have new screens with them or also refurbs?

Actually these are exchanged 9300s. This is my 3rd whole system. Can you believe it!
I really do have the worst luck----I told Dell to issue me an immediate refund if it can be done in a few days---if not reorder me a 4th 9300! I must be crazy.
I included that picture to my Dell rep.

Dr150---I'd settle for that amount of leakage

I'd recommend for you to try an LG screen since they have much less leakage vs. Samsung......Just make sure of any corner "shadows" on white/light colors from certain angles.

If you look at the photos I took of a Samsung and a LG WXGA+ display side by side (in the Photo Gallery forum) you'll see that my Samsung looks pretty much the exact same, with leakage and shadows in the exact same spots. Looks like that's just the way the Samsung WXGA+ panels are made. The LG has a little leakage too, but not much and the blacks on the screen are truely black...not some glowing shade of grey.

I'm only giving Dell 2 chances, the one that comes with the lappy, and the one that could replace the bad one. They failed on their first chance, if the second screen sucks it is bye-bye 9300.

I haven't received a reply yet from Dell. I want a 4th, but I'm not sure how the 21 day satisfaction guarantee works with replacements. Does the 21 day guarantee restart with each replacement or keep ticking from the first order??

Double check with them, but if I remember correctly it starts with the first order.

I'm pretty sure it starts and stays with the first one, but if you keep getting junk screens, they may make an exception, especially if you're able to get other people to verify the problem.
