WHY do I keep getting crap screens?????????????????????????????? - Page 4

Only the screen is junk, the rest of the 9300 is a quality machine.

This is opposed to Sony, where the junk is everything but the screen and case.

Actually I've already seen someone here do it! Unfortunately I'm unable to locate the thread right now. It was sometime in the past week or two I remember though. They took a sony screen and placed it into the i9300 or the XPS2. Forget which but it was 100% compatible!

That was an WXGA screen. Nobody has tried the WUXGA transplant yet.

I just got my Samsung replacement LCD, I swapped it, and I too have the pinched vertical black line, and I have a centered horizontal lighter area, as well.

The sparklies are not as bad on this one however, and the ability to jump between those two dim settings that the LG could not, is much more of an advantage.

I do have some light leakage on the bottom and lower corners...

Again, I'm not really sure what to do with this as of yet, but I think I'll give it a week or so, and see how it feels.

Well, it seems like most of the Samsungs has that pinched line. I'm waiting for a new LCD to get here. We'll see if this one suffers from the same problem. If anyone else have that pinched effect, chime in, or tell us your theory.

Ack, nobody gives me an answer whether the 1920x1200 TrueLife screen (the U model) suffers from the same leakage! Does it happen to everyone?

As posted in my other thread: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=88498
Dell sent me the Truelife WUXGA screen (I didn't request it) with an exchange and the screen has leakage across the bottom and a little across the top, but it seems to be more manageable than the other WXGA screens. I'm hoping the leakage(as reported by many) will lessen in time. I'm keeping this one(they threw in Office 2003 and the NEC DVD-RW).

I got a replacement for my first LG screen, and my second LG screen is just sweet. Definitely worth going through the replacement process in my opinion. Pics:

These pictures really do represent exactly what I see. The last picture is my new screen. Quite an improvement eh?

Wow! Your last screen is amazing! Is that with the LCD brightness level all the way up??? If so, you are very lucky!

At what point are guys taking these pictures? Do you take them during start up, or what? I'm going to take a shot of mine tonight for comparison.

I think I am pissed now...I don't want horrible screens like that....do MOST people get good screens?

I would think most people would get bad screens since I got about 7 in a row that were very unacceptable.
The leakage becomes fully apparent after about 10 minutes. I waited at least that to take the pics.

So, what do I do about it? Keep sending to DELL or what? If they keep returning it to me 10s of times with the same problem - I am going with Sager!
Or we could gather every unhappy LCD customer to sign a petition to reimburse everyone, or get a properly functioning LCD instead of wasting everyone's time... Dell's included.

It isn't all Dell...

We should be mad at Samsung and LG for making such crappy screens! I mean damn, THEIR quality control is worse than Dell's! Dell probably bought so many and can't return them all. Dell is getting shafted just as much as us, if not worse. Samsung and LG (Samsung especially) should be much better than this, considering it is 2005, not 1998... Geez... -JB

Sorry but I don't have time to read this whole thread now so I hope this is on topic. I played a few DVD movies this weekend - first time since I first got my XPS. There was a striking difference in the picture quality - for the good. Really glad I stuck it out with my LG.
