thinking of selling my Area 5500...

Got my AW lappy about a month and a half ago and I was thrilled with its performance. The thing is, though, I overestimated my computing needs as far as a notebook goes when I bought it...it turns out that my AW is a bit too brutish for what I've been using it for (in fact, I still have yet to install a single game on it--working full-time and attending school part-time have kept me too busy, sadly).

Consequently, I've found myself using it less and less these days and wishing that I'd thought things through a bit more before I made the (rather costly) plunge and bought the 5500.

I'm not posting this in the For Sale/Wanted sub-forum because I haven't officially decided to put it up for grabs just yet. Obviously, I'm going to take a hit in my wallet if I decide to sell it--that's a given. I paid right around $2700 (this is with free shipping) when I bought it on Feb 8. By posting here, I'm trying to get a feel for an acceptable level of loss on my part.

Basically, I'm throwing this up here to see if there might be any serious takers here. The laptop itself is in excellent shape, has seen very little use, and I have the original packaging/documentation/install discs/etc. The only drawback I can think of is that it has one dead pixel in the upper right corner. If it wasn't so close to the edge of the screen I would personally be aggravated by it, but since it's pretty near the perimeter of the display and I really rarely notice it.

Anyway, if anyone thinks they might be in the market for a very gently used Area 51-m 5500, send me a PM with any questions you might have and I'll gladly get back to you ASAP. I don't have any pics of it on hand just yet because I don't have a digicam of my own. I suppose I could snap a few shots with my webcam, but I hardly think that would do it justice. If you're serious about inquiring into it, I can borrow a cam from a friend and snap a set of high-res pics so you can view the notebook in all its glory.

As far as the specs go, check my signature below for the major stuff. If I were to sell, I'd wipe the HDD clean, reinstall XP Pro with SP2 as well as all drivers for all included hardware.

FYI, I just configured the exact same system (actually, they no longer offer the Radeon 9700 that I have, only the NVidia card) on the AW website and the total came to $2,675 (this is as of March 29). At this point I think I would be willing to let it go for $2200, shipped. And hey, look at it this way: if you buy from me, you won't have to suffer through the Phase Game

Anyway, thanks for looking this over--I'll address all PMs as quickly as I can.

Alright, so maybe $2200 might be a bit unrealistic to ask. If you're interested, PM me with any offers you might have.
