question about vectorworks and autoCAD

hey guys,

i'm gonna be taking autoCAD and proE this summer. I'm thinking about buying a powerbook. Just wondering if i installed Vectorworks on the powerbook, will i be able to use those files in autoCAD or proE on a PC? Are the file extentions the same?

Since Autocad DXF is a standard file format, Vectorworks should be able to handle them. I know very little about either programme, however, so I might be wrong.

yes they should be, the only differences are the programs themselves, Macs having the .app format and windows having the .exe. much like MS office, and all of the adobe files i've worked w/ across platforms, they're good to go on either machine. also if u buy vectorworks for school make sure to pick up the student edition and save some big $$$
