Just ordered a m6810

Hello all

I ordered a eMachines m6810 (remanufactured) from tigerdirect.com on Monday and it should be here on Friday. I chose this model over the Compaq/HP r3000/z5000 mainly due to the graphics card in the eMachines being a mr9600 and I still want the ability to game.

I just wanted to thank everyone on this board for all the information given on the eMachines notebooks, this is the best place for information on the 68xx series notebooks. I didn't find these forums however until after I ordered the notebook and am worried about the screen flicker and hinge cracking issues. Since this is a factory remanufactured notebook do you think these issues would still be a factor?

Im really looking forward to opening up the box and playing with my new machine, this is an upgrade from a Toshiba p3 1.1 laptop.

I've heard a lot of bad things about tigerdirect and that many of the products shipped are defective. Make sure to check your laptop for everything including dead pixels.

The TigerDirect eMachines refurbed notebooks come with a 90 day emachines warranty. If it's broken, just send it in and emachines will fix it for free. Most of the refurbs are new...they were just missing parts when they shipped and got returned to the manufacturer. They should be as new/if not new.

TigerDirect is very reputable. Not sure where your getting your info but it's not correct. The TigerDirect eMachines refurbed notebooks come with a 90 day emachines warranty. If it's broken, just send it in and emachines will fix it for free.
I agree with the last part. Yes they will fix it, but how would you like to buy a new car, drive 500 miles out of 1500 with all you stuff packed tight, and have to wait 2 weeks to get it fixed. Same thing with tigers refurbs. Junk out of the box 9/10 times. I don;t mean to sound like an idiot, but I have NEVER once had a good experiance with tiger.

Hmm. Did you buy 10 eMachines notebooks from them? That might be the problem

Well he said he never had a good expierience, so he must have only bought the 9 and didn't spring for the 10th

Motherboards, cpu's, and ram were my main things I got from them back in like 99-01. Never did I get one that worked correctly. Although at that time I blamed it on the manufacture rather than tiger. Now those opinions have changed since I shop elsewhere.

Yeah I wouldn't trust Tiger either. It's interesting, back a while ago (like several years ago, even before I started working where I do) was looking around for some parts, and ended up bookmarking them at Tiger for purchase. Then I looked back later, and removed the Tiger bookmarks and went elsewhere for those parts.

This is my first order from them I usually go through Newegg/Mwave/Zipzoomfly. I have to say Im a bit stressed out now, this is the first actual computer system I have bought from a retailer. I have always built my desktops and my current laptop I got second hand from a friend. Well two more days until the moment of truth, I have my fingers crossed.

Prem0,

I must have been the lucky one on the forum. In the last year, I have bought several refurbed Canon printers and a couple of AMD64/Asus A8V barebone kits from TigerDirect with not one single problem. Granted this is not a laptop, but so far so good.

My summary for buying from TigerDirect is to catch some of their good bargains and enjoy.

P.S. Welcome to the m68xx club!

No need to be stressed. If something is wrong, emachines will correct it. It is also usually small stuff, like a bad battey. dead pixles, etc...

90 days is plenty of time for something to pop up it is was intermittent.

I purchased the M6805 laptop from Tiger in Jan 2005. It was like brand new with all the plastic covering on all the plastic parts and was flawless. However, early this month, the hinge became loose and the outer casing of the lid was damaged. I called emachines direct without contacting Tiger. Emachines sent a box overnight and I sent it back to them and it was returned in a week repaired like new. I did have a problem because they had a time getting verification from Tiger that it was under warranty. I have bought several things from Tiger and they are fast at shipping. I just hate to call them because there customer service is horrible. They are very rude time and again. I am not sure I will buy from them again because they can be difficult to deal with with rebate stuff.
As of right now I really like the emachines laptop and hope that this hinge problem is permanently fixed. I cannot get anyone to tell me whether or not that when this repair is done whether it will come back again. If it does, I will probably get rid of it and find something from someone else.

Well Nobleracer you just put me at ease. The first person I spoke with was indeed extremely rude and did not give me the correct information but when I called back to order I talked to a service manager who sent me his direct number in case I had any problems. I didn't get the extended warranty but was thinking of purchasing it later after I did more research on what they actually cover and who it is with. It is nice to know that I can bypass Tiger and go strait to eMachines.

My laptop came in last night and so far so good, pristine condition. All I can say is WOW, this thing is damn fast. The speakers leave a little to be desired but not a big issue. I love this thing.

Any dead pixles????? Make sure to check every single thing, s-video out, VGA out, make sure the DVD drive can burn and read CD's and DVD's, and also run the hard drive manufactures diagnostic utility just to make sure everthing is good.
