How to keep downloads going overnight?

On my 9300, whenever it goes into standby mode, it severs my network connections. Sometimes, I'm doing some bit-torrenting overnight and it's a real pain because whenever I leave the computer/go to sleep, it goes into standby, and my transfers stop.

How can I keep the connection when I'm not at the computer?

Thanks,

Odie

Right. Obviously. But, even when I select "never" under the standby option, when I close the laptop, it seems like things are shutting down. Are they? what the hell is going on when you close the laptop?

There should be a setting to "do nothing" when you close the lid, but my XPS2 isn't here yet so I'm not sure where it is

Click on Dell Quickset. On the first page there is an option for action when lid is closed. By default, its set on standby. Just turn it off.

Alternatively, u can use task scheduler to schedule ur computer to turn itself on and start ur d/l program. You laptop will start at the designated time (despite having the lid closed) and run as instructed.

Just click on the Quickset icon in your taskbar and click "Turn ON Presentation Mode".

First of all, thanks for the two messages in a row. That was necessary. Second of all, thanks for the 'tude. That was also necessary. Third of all, yes, it's my first laptop.

Get out of my thread. Thanks

Now, um, to everyone else...

Yes, I found it in the advanced tab under Power Management. Thanks for the help
