XPS2 shipped - Dell UK - Page 8

Just a quick update guys checked my status just there online, as you do when you get home from work. And to my astonishment i am now in production.

Oh yes, I do care guys, because mine also went into Production "as of 4/1/2005 13:20".
In fact that's the day when the CSR started claiming my order was "in production" but held up due to a parts shortage. Confirms my theory about different order statuses - now that the online status has changed I really hope that is now REALLY in production.
According to the online status, my 9300 is now also in production as of April 1st, 19:20h
post #144 of 182
still pre-production here with eta jumping from 18/4 to 19/4
post #145 of 182
Good news. Estimated delivery date was April 15th this afternoon when it "went into production". It is now in the boxing stage with delivery date April 13th

Suddenly everything is going as it should be...

Update: shipped!!
After 2 weeks in pre-production, all other phases passed in just 6 hours!
Am i the only one stuck in pre-production since March 18th ????
man thats harsh guys you still waiting.. feel bad that im sending mine back... Great machine i love it to bits but it had issues runnign multiple accounts of online games (what i primarily do) dont know why. and tech support rand all the diagnostics but no luck. Pentium M just dont seem to like multiple instances of same game.

Spoke to my sales rep today to put an order in for a Gen4 Destop and gonna arrange to send this back...so any of you tired of waiting can scoop this up before i post :P

Sxc: How about me coming over to Amsterdam and us holding a little Lanparty - my XPS 2 is officially "being prepared for shipment as of 11/04/2005 22:00"!

Can't believe it - they didn't lie! They're probably going to make the April, 13th ship date I had all along! And I've got ten percent off!

With my luck, I even might end up with a sparkly screen and a broken keyboard!
hehe im going amsterdam in may actually but no way i trust myself to be there with valuable computer equipment :P

The ship date just went back to April, 13th! They really mean it this time

That's what I bought it for - Lanparties and travelling. There's no way I will let the price of it keep me from taking it with me. Actually, my trusty Inspiron 8200 made it all the way from Germany to France to Germany to Florida to California to Canada to Florida to Germany to the UK all within more or less a year and never failed on me. The XPS 2 will have to live up to its predecessor - and by my experience laptops are sturdier than people think. As for Amsterdam - uhm. Can't be worse than Chicago, can it? And a Kensington lock tends to work miracles

What's the issue you have with your XPS 2? I can't think of anything else than a software problem - it most certainly has nothing to do with a Pentium M.

Yadze: I'm sorry to hear that mate, you should definitely kick Dell's lazy ass and at least get those 10% off. With the recent rush in orders, your should have been the first one out. If it wasn't, they messed up again!

Guys just checked:

Nearly fell off my seat. Good to see everyone else looking good too, shouldnt be too long now guys.

Except yadze, the poor guy. Go and buy Simon's XPS 2, screw Dell!

By the way, 3...2...1... - gone! "Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly."

They really have to have a whole mountain of XPS 2s at their factory that they want to get rid of ASAP now. Rushed all the way through to shipping in about 6 hours - I heard that from other, but couldn't really believe it. Yay! The only problem is that I don't want to go to bed yet, with the speed of things I might even get a tracking number within the next two hours or so - talk about getting spoilt

By the way, did I ever suspect Dell's online status to be rather fishy? I can now officially confirm it's TOTALLY BOGUS! Basically you have two statuses: Pre-Production for a couple of weeks or in production, packing and shipped all within 6 hours. I wonder why they got rid of testing as compared to the US - maybe because they don't need the extra three days to ship from Malaysia

yay order is been shipped by walsh western. Your right Quark999 they really are pushing these things out of the door.

It's funny to see that in the end all of our laptops finally threw a big party and went on the road together: "Your order has been dispatched as of 11/04/2005 23:07". We're probably even on the same truck - it's going to be interesting to see which one gets routed via Amsterdam while the other goes via Madrid, only for them to come back to the UK later on - then in different shipments I suppose
Good night from me, can't be arsed to wait for the tracking number, now it's Walsh Western's turn to mess something up. Too much good news today, can't stay to wait for something bad

Congrats to you guys! That's cool!

My pc is still in Ireland, I'll be watching the olos page like a hawk tomorrow

*bump*

I now have a different shipping time (04:59). Hell, do they work day and night there in Ireland?

If I remember correctly, all shipments go to Eindhoven (NL) first. That's nice, because that's only 20km from here.

I don't have a tracking number yet.

Oh, btw, any chance I could get the 10% off because of the delay?
Sxc: You can always try, but I think I was just lucky because I complained on the day with June, 9th delivery and that Indian guy called me back the same day, and still saw the same delivery, so added hat 10% off to my discount. A day later, everything was back to normal, so I guess I hit the sweet spot.
If I were you, I'd write a really long letter stating why you're fed up and you're thinking about returning the laptop - I got a free battery out of it the last time...

I do have a tracking number and my laptop has left Raheen about half an hour ago...

I'm getting that warm fuzzy feeling:

12/04/05 14:00 HOLYHEAD FERRY ARRIVED AT PORT.
12/04/05 10:17 MR. X #` 14/04/05 SCHEDULED DELIVERY DATE.
12/04/05 09:30 DUBLIN TRAILER BOARDED FERRY.
12/04/05 08:32 RAHEEN DEPARTED EMF LIMERICK.
12/04/05 07:51 COVENTRY MERGE ITEMS PICKED.

Of course I didn't have my cell phone with me, how do I best get back to them to schedule delivery?
just called customer service to arrange returning it. and theyve offered me a further 20% off that will bring my total price paid to like £1550 for the system....if that aint a good deall i dont know what is. If you price out online my config will come to over £2500.00 ..thinking about taking the discount and selling on privately....

What would you guys do in my sitatuion?
Simon, what did you tell them when you were in the process of returning? I have received mine but any help to get a further discount would be much appreciated.

Oh, and who did you call? Lets face it, that is a fantastic price for the machine!
