Don't press two hard, and be careful what you rub with, you don't want to mark the screen!

Another option is to run the machine with the screen closed, running something intensive that heats it up - sometimes the heat will fix the problem.

I'm going to be purchasing a laptop that I'll be using in a classroom environment, and I'd also like it to be a gaming machine (outside of the classroom... and maybe in the classroom ) of course, I'm not expecting battery life, I'd just need it to be quiet... I was looking into the 5680, and when it doesn't have a load, and even if it does, how loud does it get? And are the fans off when there's no load(Or just quiet enough to believe they're off)?

Thanks,

Sorry if my question seems a little inane... but it's something I haven't seen really addressed as of yet.

I have a 5680 that I take to school with me once in awhile. While not producing hurricane winds, the sounds aren't the quietest, even when its just sitting there doing its basic processes. If there are people around you that aren't also using a computer that is semi-noisy, or if noone at all has one there, I wouldn't suggest taking it to class. Plus, it's a great computer, it can be quite distracting. When I take mine I goto the 3rd or 4th floor in the library where there aren't too many people, and if they get disturbed, they can go to another floor or move a few tables away. Unless they are within about 15 feet of you or the room is absolutely quiet, it shouldn't be too much of a distraction... unless you have a cd running, then it can start to get noisy

Awesome! Thanks for the reply, it was extremely informative.

I've been using my old, out-of-date Inspiron 4150, albeit it's a ****ty computer now, but it's dead silent when doing basic processes. Which was a plus during class, a word processor up and no sound, etc... But ya, it's worth the trade off to get a powerhouse.
