That's not a guaranteed option.... and that is stated in the policy, before you ordered.

Humm, maybe companies should sell a zero dead pixle guarentee.

+100 = Guerenteed zero dead pixles.

On the drivers CD that comes with the laptop in the VGA folder there are two sets of drivers. Beta and WHQL, the Beta's gave me problems but I'll try it again after updating everything some more.

The allowable number of non-performing pixels has a direct impact on the yield of the process. If the industry attempted to set a zero standard, the current manufacturing yield would be so low that the cost of an LCD display would be many times higher than it is today.
More like $2,400 for a laptop that might have some dead pixels, or $10,000 for a laptop that is guaranteed to have none.

So, 5680? beat the 8890 for you?

Oh yea, i would take a 5680 over an 8890 any day. while the 5680 isn't all that big IMO I think the 8890 would really be pushing it, but that's just me. I just really didn't need all those little extras that i know i'll never use.

Hehe... Great!!! But, I was talking to Bratag....

Yeah I have to go with the 5680 after reading about the screen etc. Believe me I was tempted to go with the 8890 for the extra screen size (even though its less real estate) the serial port and the extra pcmcia port - also the 1hr battery life on the single battery for the 568- almost pushed me to the 8890.

But ... the 5680 just sounds like more what I am after size/screen wise and lets face it the battery life isnt why I am buying this thing anyway.

1) Get paycheck on Wednesday. Order 5680
2) ?
3) Profit

no! no!
thats: underpants -> ? -> profit!
get it right! heheh ^^

and BAH cause youll order yours a day or two before me...my check comes on thursday but since i work nights i probably wont deposit it until friday ;-; ... reminds me... i need to see what my bank charges for a wire transfer to see if its worth it.

i'm having a problem with all the dead pixels thing, we want to order 30 of these units for cad design and all im reading is dead pixel! Has anybody got one that doesn't have a dead pixel? we buy yearly for our staff and this 5680 is one of the ones we are looking at, now my problem is i can't have 30 people emailing me about red dots on there screen while designing, They are already a pain in the Butt if you know what i mean! Last year we had dell c'840, out of 30, none of them have dead pixels, now im not a fan of dell that why we're shopping for the best or the greater. Is the standard screen better than the wide angle as far as No Dead Pixels, or is this a sager thing that people have to live with?

It's not a Sager thing. It's an LCD thing.
