nice

nice pics. But how hot does it get when you run it for more than 3 hrs?

I was actually suprised about the heat output, in a good way though. The way everyone talked i thought it would always be pumping out heat but I didn't find it too bad, even after extended use. Of course during gaming or heavy CPU load there's more heat, but like i said in the review it's not enough to make me worry, just enough to let me know the cooling system's doing it's job.

Alot of times it is. However, i know from expereience, that if the pixel has the potential to become unstuck that is the meathod...

What would you suggest running to try to unstick a pixel?

Dead pixels are a part of life. Do you have any idea how much a UXGA LCD would cost if the manufacturer had to throw away 4 out of 5 displays because of a dead or stuck sub pixel?
i dont think so, i want to buy a $2,500.00 top of the line lap top, i don't want any, not one dead pixel if it cost $ 2,750 or $ 3000.00
to guarantee it than fine i'll pay it. I've done my home work! call up and see what Sony, HP, Gateway, or Dell says about dead pixels. This is a simple matter of cheap products, do you really think that those computer, ( Sony, HP, Gateway, or Dell ) would be in business if they shipped out computers with dead pixels?

I don't think you understand... EVERYONE ships displays with dead pixels, they HAVE to. LCD's can't just be sent back to the factory and fixed, they're scrapped. Companies come up with dead pixel policy's for this very reason.

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/qa....cd&question=01

Viewsonic has a very generous dead pixel policy, just for an example. But you can't expect anyone to just start swapping displays out left and right because of one or two bad sub pixels. I also know that getting screens replaced by Sony or Dell is more of a who you talk to and how much you complain to on the phone than their company policy. Believe me, they don't want to go eating the cost of multiple $1000 displays just like Sager doesn't because of minor defects people are too anal to overlook.

I understand your point, i still think sager should offer a no dead pixel display for extra, say 100.00 or 150.00. Just think how many people would order it, I know we would order 30!

YES.... they do.... I believe Dell's dead pixel policy is 6 dead pixels......
post #71 of 105
I have a dell laptop - 2 dead pixels - was told unless more than 6 pixels I was SOL. Don't kid yourself - sagers dead pixel policy is probably the best I have ever seen.

On the subject of stuck pixels...

That made me think of an ungodly obnoxious website I ran across the other day. The flashing at the end may help it, if colorcycling is what you're looking for. Ignore the preschoolish movie prior.

Well here's my homework

dell = 6-7 dead pixels
I believe this is all over their boards. Their TS reps seem reluctant to give an actual number but it's either 6 or 7

ibm = 5-11 dead pixels
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview...9P53&loc=en-us

hp/compaq = 7-9 dead pixels
http://isupport2.hp.com/Solution.asp...e-0090278a7756

apple = 7 dead pixels for 17"?
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...22194...pretty vague about it. I remember the unofficial policy being posted on a mac forum and apple quickly asked the poster to remove it...heh

gateway = case by case
http://techupdate.zdnet.com/computer...418896,00.html

sony = 12?! and case by case
http://www.epinions.com/content_49540075140

sager = 6 dead pixels

There are actually a few places with 0 dead pixel policies with regards to desktop LCDs in place but I am not aware of any laptop manufacturer with such a policy.

nice seems like sager has a good policy.

Alright just a little update. I ran BF 1942 as it comes off the CD at 1600x1200 everything set as high as it would go, bots at i belive 220% and cpu time given to bots at 20% and it never skipped a beat. I tried simular setup the other day but it wasn't running nearly as good...then all the sudden my screen got darker, like the brightness was turned down. Turns out that i had forgoten to plug it in and it was running off battery, but for battery it did pretty damn good IMO.

Quick question, how do i set it not to throttle anything down when on battery, there is no setting in the bios.

Thats what I'm thinking; I even posted a thread on the subject. It appears that they got rid of the BIOS power settings. I dont like that.

I did the same with BF1942 w/ R2R and SW. It was funny cuz I was sitting with Syndicat3 and mine was lagging a bit; then I realized it was on battery power, lmao. The only lag I noticed on AC power is the mouse lag on the 'chose spawn point' map overlay thing.

I also ran Unreal 2 today and got amazing results. On my desktop (2.4Ghz, 256MB of mem, and a MX4200 Video card) i was getting pretty bad preformance at 800x600 with settings on low. On my 5680 i got AMAZING preformance at 1600x1200 and everything set at high. That alone let me know that my money was well spent, since on everything else i had tried Unreal 2 had run like crap.
