Is it possible to do?
No. They have different interfaces for the CPUs.

You are kidding, right?

Have you looked at which company makes the Centrino Line of chips and motherboard?

Oh wait, that's right, it's Intel.

So the answer is a simple, plain (and obvious) No.

Nope, as newer processors release, their pin configuration, voltage, the chipset supporting it, changes as well. The CPU is the brain of the PC, however the chipset is the traffic coordinator. So those usually go hand in hand with newer technology.

For example, original centrino was on the 855chipset, now with sonoma a faster bus pentium-m, it is on the 915 chipset.

etc.

Don't listen to them. You can do anything you set your mind to.

True, so as suggested above, try it and let us know how it goes. Include screenshot of the socket too!

Ok thanks anyway so how long until my sonoma is obsolete?
will it support windows longhorn????
Yes it will support long horn

Sonoma, not for awhile. Even if Dual Core get release, sonoma will be around. Just like the Centrino still around even if Sonoma is released.
Sonoma = Centrino. The latest version of Centrino.

Basically in summary...

Centrino is a marketing term. The original Centrino was code name Carmel. The second generation Centrino code name is Sonoma.

In the market world, they are both known as "Centrino".
I think some of the confusion arises because the switch to Sonoma occurred with a new chipset. The processor is still Dothan, although operating at frequencies now permitted by the new chipset.
That is correct, the processor Intel Pentium-M is still Dothan....

Sonoma, Carmel, Centrino..whatever you want to call it is a triangle requirement. In order to utilize the name "Centrino" notebook it must have

1) Intel Pentium-M processor
2) Intel Pentium Chipset 855 or 915
3) Intel Pro Wifi

Miss one, then you got just a laptop
