hey, will you guys leave this dude alone? what's the point in posting if all you want to do is get a shot in because you happen to know more about a subject than he does? flaming him for asking what you consider to be a stupid question will only drive him away - why not use your knowledge on the subject to help him instead of belittle him?

kudos to the folks who took the time to answer his question and help him learn something - that's what this forum should be about..

Thats pretty nifty. I almost went with the Centrino, but I think I may have had it better in my mind to go with the AMD 64-bit 3400+ from the get-go, although infinitely exchangeable and configurable computational systems would be truly awesome. Too bad capitalism is more concerned with profits than with the product or consumer. So that kinda shoots that... But I hear ya. At least you get much better battery life than I do.

Irish, eh? One of those few Gaelic speakers, maybe? Irish Gaelic is the next language I hope to tackle. I eventually intend to major in the Anthropologic/archeological study of the prehistoric Gael and other Iberian Celts...

Wow. Just wow. I didn't think this question would be possibly even considered. Ever.
Kinda like how your grammer should never be considered, eh? But you make a good point; I hope you remember that phrase next time you ask where your life is going or why you cant clean your alternator with a match book.

I nominate Chillipop for NOTW, because I laughed (in good fun) at the title to this thread

Everyone computer guru here (myself included) AT ONE point or another in their careers learned the diffence between sockets. And most likely believed that different CPU's could be put into different sockets.

So, it may seem a basic question to many but remember, those of us who work in this business.. (no offence) but if everyone knew everything about computers it would keep us out of a job.

Besides, when i was a kid I remember asking if I could put a P2 chip into my Pentium I board.... ahhh the days of my youthful innonence!

Chilipop,

I'm sorry you suffered ridicule by some that possess more computer savvy than you.

This site is supposed to be about sharing information/experience and helping each other... not taking a cheap shot at someone for asking a simple question.

No not really, unless you only use your laptop for benchmarking. Be happy with what you got and use it. It's no use worrying about the upgrade path for a laptop you just got. There's just not enough concrete information.

In a year or two (or when you feel your laptop is really slow) come back here and ask what the processor path is for your current laptop...heck maybe in a year or two you won't even have to ask us.
