Dell XPS Gen1 and ATI Mobility

Thread Starter
I have a XPS Gen1 with a ATI 256 Mobility Card and I also have a 42” Mitsubishi HDTV with other HD component hookups. One is being used for my HD DVR Component and I have another open component slot (DVI) and another YPbPr hookup. I have tried to hookup my computer directly thru my video card DVI and also bought a ATI DVItoHDTV component with the appropriate cables.
I have also downloaded both the Omega driver sets and the Modded Catalyst 5.3 drivers and tried both configurations on both hookups.
My problem is that I cannot get the image size correct with either hookup, no matter what I do. I bought this computer after I bought my TV with the thought in mind that I would not be relegated to using the plain old S-video connection with less than desirable resolution.
Does anybody have any ideas on getting the right size for my TV, which supports 480i, 480p, 1080i and 16:9 and the clarity and sharpness in the image that I think I should be getting? I am not trying to share the desktop over both monitors; I am trying to use just the TV monitor when I am at home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dell XPS Gen1 WUXGA, P4 3.4 Ghz HT, 1 GB Corsair RAM, ATI 9800 256 Mobility, 8- GB 5400rpm Hard Drive, 8x DVDRW/CDRW

Thanks in advance.

What type of Mits do you have? CRT, DLP? I think you will need to get powerstrip . You will then need to make a custom resolution that your monitor supports. I suggest heading over to AVS Forum for expert help from people who know a helluva lot more than I do about it. Alot of those guys are real experts on video displays. Sorry I can't help much more than that. Good luck.
