The UPS guy got here at 7:00 PM i was dying all day thinking about my xps i ven tought mine got stolen at some point.

ok here goes the review.

Screen: The screen is great, all it needed was some tweaking and i got the whites to look great and everything is excelent, I know what the sparkles are and i can guarantee my screen doesnt have sparkles, im willing to even show it to anyone near here, i live in miami.
To tweak my system i used windows xp MCE, it comes with a couple of videos that along with powerstrip helped me get everything perfect.
By the way, my screen is a LG.

Heat: I havt used it in my lap yet but as delbert mentioned it doesnt get hot in the dec where the arms go, the temperature on the lower part of the laptop is higher but nothing too bad.

Build: I love it, i love my keyboard, i love the black trim sorrounding the laptop, all the buttons are great, the touchpad is a little small but nothing to bother ya too much.

LED's: Th leds are great everyone who has seen en so far loves em too, and when i take it to college all i have to do is turn the leds off as to not call too much attention.

Backpack: The backpack is incredible, i really love it, it has space for everything you want to put there and then some, its incredibly confortable i really love it, besides the big xps logo i see no reason to get another backpack(cause the logo could atract unwanted attention)

Gaming: I think with all the benchmarks out there this part isnt really necesary but, oh well, here i go:

Ive installed Rome : total war , Far Cry, Doom 3, Call of Duty, everything plays smooth, i had a mr9800 in my xps 1 and this thing is by far a lot better, i play coh too, i still get lag sometimes, but i think thats more of a server issue then a video card thing.

Pentium M: There really is no difference in real life performance from going to the PM from the P4.

I really dont know what else, to say, im in love with my machine and i thank god that i had enough self controll to wait till today to use powerstrip to look at my screen brand, that way i think i was partial enough to make a desicion without the NBF brainwashing in effect.

Can you benchmark Doom III on 1920x1200 resolution? Be sure to mention what your settings are set to!

Used FRAPS to see the FPS, i know you can edit doom in some way in order to be able to set the resolution to 1900 x 1200 but i dont know how to do it, did a quick google search but didnt find it, i ran it at 1600 X 1200 and the FPS never went lower then 60 with high quality 4x aa and all special effects on, i might have gotten higher frames, but i like to use Vsync.

By the way i got 5005 stock 3dmark05 score, i havnt ran 3dmark05 after fresh install

To edit doom 3 resolutions, bring down the console. Then type:

seta r_customwidth 1920
seta r_customheight 1200
seta r_mode -1

Quit the game and load it up again for the new settings to take effect. The above will also work for any Quake 3-based games.

shouldnt you adjust the FOV also? I do in COD when I had my AW7700 and will when and if i get my xps2.

Halo wouldnt let me run it in Native Resolution either, but 60 FPS in 1600x1200 High Quality 4X AA!!! Wow!
