If it's defective because of Alienware's fault then I don't believe the 15% restocking fee applies. They only charge you if you return it because you no longer want it.

Go back to your Dell hole you little troll. You think Dell's are free of problems? Well I work with them for a living and they most certainly are not. And the XPS is the most God-awful looking laptop that I've ever seen. What's up with the ugly ass black plastic it sits on?

blackrain,
If you want, you can send your account info to an Alienware rep (Alienware-JuanG). Juan will check on things for you. Thanks for posting your issues to this forum. as you can tell, there is no shortage of people that will take this opportunity to magnify your complaint and bash Alienware. Its a common occurance in an Alienware environment. but the fact remains that, compared to the number of sales, the amount of complaints are still relatively low. And the overwhelming majority of satisfied Alienware owners are the people that give Alienware the image of excellence that it is known for.

I won't blow smoke circles at you and dissrespect your complaint like other members of this forum that just happen to be owners of a different brand system but I can offer the link to Juan and hope you will find complete satisfaction with your system. Odds are that a person will get a perfect machine but when something like this happens, Alienware has you covered. Alienware support is another aspect of ownership that members of this forum can ensure you is excellent. [one dell troll: 7 day ban} anymore??

What's with you Dell guys that have nothing more to do with your time than come into the Alienware section and post garbage? How long did it take you to search and post those links? Maybe you have a little Alienware envy? You want a real motherboard, a decent screen, fully functional hardware, real memory...?

You ever owned an Alienware? Obviously not, because your post is full of sh*t.

Hammer, your right on the money and do you think this has anything to do with the recent banning of the king Dell troll who does not even own that XPS he says was so inferior to AW ...did I say inferior..I ment cheaper than, with coupons and free Dell propitary goodies like AOL or whoever the ISP of the week is. The simple fact that none of the AW guys troll the Dell area and post this kind of shit tells most of us all we need to now...are they pissed off because they got Commish with no take backs?

For every AW horror story that asshole refers to there are hundreds of Dell horror stories much worse and it proves nothing more that the fact that Dell is well aware of their inferior quality and is ready to replace any and everything out of necessity where AW builds quality and thus there is not a need for mass replacement such as those lovely screens Dell is replaceing by the hundreds...so there are some quality control issues maybe...look in your own forum at all the complaints about Dell before you wander over here to complain about something you do not and never did own..

Ok guys...

Remember, most of the Dell guys are our your friends now. Just a few bad apples rearing their heads here. Let's make nicey nice :-)

LOL

Play nice now boys...

But Mike and Hammer have valid points

I hope your problem gets resolved soon.

As for all your files, it is standard practice for AW. I got a black notebook that says several times to back up your data before sending it in. In bold letters it says in appendix C "Be advised that your computer will be formatted and reintegrated."

good luck

Laptop for work?

I was told by one of the Customer Support supervisor's that they had special accomodations for corporate accounts that get you quicker turn around times on repairs. Make sure they know your laptop is for your job and see if you can get some preferential treatment.

I appreciate all the replies and Aurora thank you for the info and link to JuanG. As for knowing that the box is a corporate machine they actually have corp. account numbers and I have to use it every time I speak with an account rep.

I just want to be able to move on and actually use the machine for work and not sit here stuck on this old ass dell I’m sitting on now. What I still don’t understand is that they gave me an option to keep the drives with me and just send in the box, so if formatting the drives is to insure that a program isn’t the cause of the problem then why don’t they just take out my drives when they got the box? This way they can do their testing and I don’t lose my data. I just don’t like the assumptions that were made. I sent the box in with one theory as to what the cause was and when that theory changed I should have been made aware and given a heads up with what paths were now in order. I mean If you don’t feel good and you go to a doctor for an appendectomy and while they are doing the surgery find its your testicles they don’t say” well we can just cut those off too”. Just give me a heads up that I’m going to be faced with issues if they do the deed. You see what I’m say’n?

On post #9 did anyone else notice the Motherships?

What motherships?

?

I think I was misconscrewed !! What I was saying was:

If you want a dependable machine and fast support, order a Dell. But don't whine when nobody is impressed.
If, on the otherhand, you want a cranky but awsome computer that is way high on the cool factor, then stick around here. And, of course, your expected to whine all day if you have to ship it to the depot.

Knock on wood, my AW has never gotten cranky, and ALL, as in EVERY ONE of the dells I use at work, Laptops and PCs are like Edsels.

Actually, there is a pretty good chance they would. Just a heads up to anyone going for that appendectomy.

My mothership deals with Dell on a corporate level and I don't think I would be exagerating if I said the mothership buys thousands of Dell PCs/Laptops semi-annually.

Dell's tech support for our company has always been stellar and our local onsite "Dell" techs have always been knowledgable and professional. If I need a hard drive or say a floppy drive etc. to replace the faulty one in my brand new company laptop, the tech is there for me the next day or two, or the part is sent next day to our office so I can replace.

It's just a coincidence that my fellow employees and I refer to our corporate office as "The Mothership".

I'm not affiliated with Alienware in anyway if thats what you were thinking...?

If Dell made toilets I don't think Alienware Corp would use those either. Not bashing. Just pointing out that Boyds post couldnt be seen as a referrence to the Alienware "Mothership". I hope I didnt just start a discussion about what the proprietary configuration of a Dell toilet could be. We shouldnt be hijaking this AW complaint thread. blackrain, I sent you a private message.
Dell is really inconsistent. Sometimes they offer over the top support, and other times, you wonder if they are all 'tards. Oh man, there is a guy flaming in the Dell section right now ... ouch. Nobody from the AW boards is joining in though ...

Dells are alot of bang for the buck. Maybe alot of Dell people are AW wannabe's ... why else would they (me) be over in this neck of the forum?

If Dell made toilets they would not flush unless you inserted a coupon...and then they would charge you for paper usage...but AOL is free for 6 months
