Yea for X strangness

So I recently adjusted my screen settings on my laptop to use an external monitor at a better resolution(1400xwhatever) whereas my laptop screen is 1024x768.

Problem is now I cant get the screen to read correctly on the laptop, for some reason it only shows an 800x600 snapshot of the 1024x768 desktop I was using before, and an 800x600 desktop comes in windowed on my laptop screen. Both of these transitions were made using either xf86cfg or xf86config on a modified DeMudi distro.

Curious if anyone has any other ideas on that.

Heh ok new one then, but strangely completly related

My modes are set up correctly already, went in by hand to double check that, the screen loads correctly, but for some reason the viewport that fills my monitor is only a set size. In this case something like 800x600. THAT is what I am trying to fix, not really the modes. I am probably having the same problem on my laptop, but I cant get to it right now to be sure.

Or did I miss the point of that script?

Heh well actually all I did that caused it on my desktop was enabled the NVidia drivers for 3d Acceleration But I am not at my desktop currently and have gone through several versions of configs now trying to get it back up and running(With 3d acceleration) with no luck thus far, and in fact I have only backpedaled as now when I start the entrance daemon all I get is a screen constantly flickering between ttys7 and whatever screen I start it on

Still working on it though, on my laptop at the moment but I gotta pack up so ill try to fix it a bit later today

So I fixed the problems causing it to not load up at all, not I am just back to the virtual window, and I have a feeling I am just missing something obvious.

Hmm so it seems that the problem is in the 1280x1024 resolution, even though my monitor should support it(NecMultisync75) it seems X doesnt wanna let me use it, even when using gtf to insert modelines at 60 HZ(Should be within the refresh capabilities of this monitor at that resolution) it doesnt wanna let me.
