Anyone know for sure when the 21 days starts?

I ordered a new laptop today using the new 35% off coupon with the 2 gig processor and minus the RAM upgrade since I can get 2 gig of RAM online for around $350 through newegg.com.

I think it is based off the "Date" field off the packing slip they send you but I want to be for sure. The packing slip has two dates on it. One is the "Order Date" and the other is simply "Date". I'm pretty sure the 21 days can't be from the order date as you are losing days that way. Anyone confirm one way or another though?

I'm pretty sure it's from the shipping date. Not sure how weekends affect it though.

Last time I talked to them, the 21 days started on the ship date.

yeah, i think it is from the shipping date, which on the invoice, should be the one labeled "Date".

So do I simply call them within the 21 days and get an RMA number or does the 21 days mean I need to have the old laptop to them by then? Reason I'm asking is I have my new one on order and it might be close as to when I get it. I would prefer to just slap the old drive in the new one and RMA the old one back to them so I don't have to reinstall a thing.

You call. They give you RMA. You send package with RMA writen on box. 1-3 months later you get money back.

And it depends who you talk to whether Dell pays for return shipping or you do.

i've return 2 dell laptops (700m) in the past 2 weeks..i simply went to DELL CHAT and told them that i was "very unhappy" with the quality of the laptop and that I spoke to tech support about problems with my computer lagging alot. Then i told them i didn't want to deal with the hassle anymore and that i wanted a refund as i was not completely satisfied. Thats when the CSR offered to take care of return shipping for me as a courtesy for my dissatisfaction (both times).

Return shipping via UPS GROUND was only $10.58 for me from CA to TX, but why pay it when you can have DELL take care of it. So to get prepaid shipping from DELL just express your dissatisfaction with the laptop, works for me!

I received my credit within 2 weeks for the first laptop i returned and am waiting to see how long this next return takes to credit to my account as i just shipped it off to UPS today.
