New Sager Gaming Machine 4760 REVIEW! PICS OF GAMES!!! - Page 4

Sorry I could not figure out how to have the pics appear in the post. BTW, I am using a 4760 but will be returning it soon and wait for the 4780. The graphics card does not do it for me.

Well that's unfortunate isn't it...Certainly everything in the widescreen shot has been stretched...

How dumb is that? an old 2D game like RA2 (how old is it? 2-3 years?) can dynamically resize it's display to fill whatever res, but a recent 3D game such as WC3 can't...

Looking at the 2D interface of it, it hasn't been designed to accomodate different aspect ratios, but you'd think they could at least make the 3D display a bit smarter...

4760

Hello folks I'm brand new here, my first post and here is my story, several weeks ago I spilled a chocolate protein shake onto my Toshiba 5105-S901 and it died terribly, I took it back to Compusa hoping the warranty would somehow take effect, no way jose. After a week or so later it comes back from GSS unrepaired and with an estimate of $1450, and with no promise that would repair everything. So I sent it back to the Toshiba repair facility this time where they supposedly will replace any major item like the motherboard, CPU etc for $300. No word yet on it.
This last week I've been on Ebay looking and bidding on the P25-S607/609 series. Also a company in Nebraska called Xotic PC that has several models of the 17" notebooks. They are around $2100 and similar to the 4760.
And then I stumbled upon this discussion forum and Sagers.

I want the 17" screen cause I fly from Alaska to Florida and watching movies is a good way to pass 14 hours., I really want a desktop replacement and a fair to excellant gamer that handles HALO (my absolute favorite!!!) and be mostly modern for awhile....

Questions are this, should I buy the 5680 with the smaller screen but better vid card and the second tray for a battery? or go ahead and get the 4760? I am reading something about a 4780? what is it compared to the 5680? And also i just bought an Electrovaya 160BB (15volt) battery, anybody know what the AC adapter for these models put out? 15 volts? From the somewhat negative review of the Toshiba P25 S609 I probably won't buy it, just looking for some good shopping advice here, many thanks.

you won't be able to watch a full dvd on either a 5680 or a 4780. YOU will need a protable dvd player if you want to do that.

Wow , that is one awsome laptop. One of my concerns is fan noise. With a fullblown desktop processor with HT that thing must run hot. When you are just casually typing is fan noise audable (I work in class with my computer so this is a big concern for me).

you'll be able to hear it but it shouldn't cause a disturbance

Try this site: www.widescreengamingforum.com

My 4780 is to be delivered today, too. The first game I'm gonna try on it is XIII.

Hi AlkalineX,
why do you say that is not possible to see a DVD?? Just for the battery life, or for other more important reasons???

yes battery life, the 5680 provides with dual battery might be abel to to do if the dvd is under 2 hrs. But if it is over 2 hrs, even teh 5680 w/ dual batt will shutdown due to low battery.

Just to end the controversy if it's not already, I'm getting a new widescreen laptop so that's why I'm here, but more importantly I used to work on some of the RA2 code and I can tell you it is streched...

Csmajor you're wrong, RA2 is not streched at widescreen resoultion.

I just ordered battlefield but I know it runs correct aspect ratio and widescreen because my friend runs it at that resolution on his HPzd7000. i don't have halo and won't be getting it because its a pos on the pc.

download the Halo demo.... But i doubt it working well on a 9000 card. I guess i will wait for my 5680 with 9600 pro.
