How do you carry your 9300/XPS2 Around? - Page 4

Anyone with the Targus Matrix http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=RG0322
backpack, how does the 9300 fit in there? does it give the laptop enough protection? And also, i plan to put maybe some textbooks, notebooks in there, is it big enough?

how does the Targus Matrix compare to the Targus XL feature wise? Such as cell phone holder, water bottle holder, etc.

The Best Buy in my town had one in stock. I recomment going to there with your 9300 and seeing for yourself how it fits and if you think its too big. You can also try circuit city. Behind the clips you could hold 2 waterbottles. So if you bicycle long distances or go hiking with your 9300 that would work great. It was too big for my needs. I dont remember much else about it. I went with the Targus Elite. Mostly just a room for my XPS2 and accessories just like a standard case. But the really nice air and rubber cusions sold me.

um... Here's what i hoped to put in my back pack, all at the same time if possible.

1. I9300 of course
2. two water bottle slots
3. cell phone slot
4. PDA slot?
5. Notebook cables, batteries etc.

don't know if it's possible, haha.. just a thought.

My Elite does all that except it only has one hideable net for storing one external waterbottle.
XL and Matrix had room for that plus room to take several days changes of clothes or school books.

was about to pickup the timbuk2 xl at the apple store for 120 bucks, but then i went to microcenter and picked up a Targus CityGear Miami Messenger Notebook Case for 50 bucks. Now that I think about it, the shoulder strap is not removable, but doesn't bother me too much.

Very, very sweet, and probably what I'll haul my XPS2 around in when the time comes.

Hands down, the best customer support I've ever witnessed in ordering computer peripherals. They sent my g/f a hand-written thank you note and a check-up call to make sure everything was in a good state for use.

ohhh.. too bad you can remove the should strap. I've seen these that you can rearrange the should strap in a way that you carry it like a backpack.. just thought the idea was cool.

last time i tried carrying something with one should, i had to switch between my shoulders every 100 steps, and i was my girlfriend's purse, so i don't think i'll be able to carry the whole weight of a laptop on one should for too long..

I have the Samsonite Sport Backpack. I just got it and my new 9300 last week so I've not yet really used it. I think it is going to be just fine though. It isn't huge and unwieldy, yet has a ton of organizing pockets etc, and should hold the laptop plus a few books and accessories easily. The straps and lumbar area are very well padded. The laptop compartment seems kind of lightly padded but I do not really know what is normal as I never had a laptop case before. I think I'm going to add some padding cut from a 3/8 inch closed cell foam bakpacking pad that I have laying around. The construction seems strong, although the top "handle" thing seems to have a lot of stress on it when you use it and have the laptop and some books in the bag.

I will be travelling for a week leaving Wednesday (I travel half my life for work), and I'll post if I have any problems.

here are some pictures with the backpack loaded with my junk.

I ordered the Dell Delux case with my system (waiting for it to get out of the Maylasia to USA Box mode) I will be taking this system on a long set of Flights and it will be in my hands the entire way. I am wondering if it will have the room for my web cam and the tripp lite surge suppressor along with the software. Anyway looking forward to getting the I9300 (my first lappy) I hope that I get good Wireless connects in Bahrain.

I9300 Pentium M 730 (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB)
UltraSharp Wide ScreenXGA+
512MB, DDR2, 533MHz
128MB ATI and Mobility Radeon X300
80GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915
80 WHr 9-cell Battery

I haven't taken it anywhere yet, but when I do I'll probably just use the thing shipped to me for free. I have something else, but it's gotten kinda dirty.
