want to upgrade the ram and hard drive. i believe i can put a samsung 5400rpm 80gb in with a BIOS update? can someone confirm this? also, must i use pc100 ram, or can i get pc133 or other??? often i think pc133 will work on laptops originally designed for pc100, but people have mentioned this is an exception. would a bios update solve that? how DO i update the bios?

i've allready purchased this 256mb stick of pc100 ram for it, but i'd like to have 512mb, rather than just 384mb on a laptop as old and slow as this, to milk it for all i can.

new pc100 is outrageously expensive, but pc133 is reasonable. if i could make do with that, i'd simply sell the 256mb and 128mb i have, and buy two matching 256 sticks.
also: anything i can do to get it run cool/quiet? i'm planning to remove the heatsink and replace the thermal compound with arctic silver 5. any other tips/tricks? it is my music computer, so it's important that i can get it to be very quiet under low load- for instance when just playing music.
