i have had several problems with my trusty 4750 recently:
it have been slowing up pretty badly (was freezing in warcraft 3 games) recently... as my hard was almost full, i thought that was the problem... so i bought an external 80 gbb hdd and proceeded to transfer most of my files to the external drive... it speeded up a bit...but not much, i reinstalled the amd 64 driver, flashed the bios but still no improvement... i noticed the thing was very hot earlier than it use to as summer is starting here in the tropics so i thought was the problem... i placed a dedicated fan to ventillate it and elevated the back... not much improvement... finally thought that the programs that i installed and uninstalled was slowing everything down, so i decided to format it backing up my larger files to external hdd....
i did that last night... after midnight in fact so it'll be cooler... so i inserted my windows xp pro and proceeded to reformat but it would only go up to 40% formatted and it just crashed... i tried to turn it on again but the power button was so hot! so i placed some ice cubes in the back together with the airconditioning on and did it again... it worked but it was still getting hot... i then disassembled the heat sink and i noticed the grills were basically clogged up... that caused it to lose any effectiveness in cooling down and when reassembled it... my computer was cool again! and reformatting and installation went on without a hitch...
but... after installing all the latest drivers... i hooked up my external hdd and it failed... it wouldn't read my external hdd! i tested the hdd on my desktop... it worked... i changed my enclosure... and it worked but now it's very slow... windows says that it's not hooked up to a usb 2.0 port and there is "none available in the system"... i don't know why... (the enclosure says it is a usb 2.0) and my desktop reads it as usb 2.0... what do i need to do about this...
another thing... i can't seem to make my logitech mx1000's buttons to work... i mean the extra buttons not the basic buttons... the setpoint software don't show the mouse control set up... logitech said i need to connect to USB but when i do that the mouse doesn't even work at all... it's connected to ps2 port and logitech said i need to disable the touch pad... any ideas...
help... i'm tired and have had only 2 hours of sleep!
