I read a story on one forum(forgot which one) that someone dropped thier Dell notebook in a lake accidentally(!?) but had the complete care and Dell sent them a new notebook. If I ever buy a Dell I would definitely get the complete care, it's the main reason I even consider buying thier notebooks.

somone brought their laptop on a boat and he dropped it in the water by accident, he payed a scuba diver $400-$500 to recover it and yes Dell gave him a brand new one. But in all fairness, he paid nearly $5000 for his laptop which is a no brainer when it comes to extended warranty with complete care, so this story didn't really guide me in a certain direction regarding whether extended warranty is best for me

if you are using your notebook portably at all, GET COMPLETE CARE. Only reason why I will only buy a dell.

I also had a notebook for 3 years and within the second year, my pcmia slot failed, cdrw failed, dead pixels and battery life died out.

Complete care would have fixed all this if I just droped my notebook down the stairs after backing up. TOo bad it wasnt a dell.

The reason I say this is because whenever you buy something new you baby the hell out of it for the first year cause its 'new'. As the years progress, you no longer have this mentality and then you start to get careless, which is when accidents happen. Same thing applies for a car as well.

I think complete care should start after the base 1 year limited warranty because everyone is going to be extra careful with their new toy that first year, so the chance of you dropping it or accidentally doing something stupid is rare.
the cost of the accident coverage is flat rate added to whatever your warranty period is.

Im personally going to wait for dell to add the 3yr complete care into their package as some kind of special promotion. Dell has done this before and since dell deals are constantly changing every week it's only a matter of time before this happens

I have wouldn't buy another laptop unless it had the same complete care coverage as what Dell provides.

I have had three mother boards replaced. I travel a lot. My office is in La., I have had one mother board replaced at my office (spilled coffee). One motherboard replaced while I was on a project in Santiago, Chile, and another just replaced when I was on a project in Pa., The technician came to my hotel room to replace it.

Like said I wouldn't buy another brand of laptop unless it had the same type of coverage.

Complete care coverage is well worth the money!
