HP ZD8000 vs. Fujitsu N6000

Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of getting a desktop replacement, and I narrowed it down to these two systems. I know this topic has been covered before, but no review or discussion seemed draw a clear conclusion of why either system is superior to the other.
Seems like they have very similar features: 3.2ghz processor, 128 vs. 256 v/c, 1gbRam, 100gbH.D., full keyboard/keypad, 17" wideview screens, etc.
I can't seem to decide between the two. They are very similarly priced even. Seems like the HP has an overall better and more powerful package, better multimedia solution, while the N6000 has an overall better quality, and sreen display.

Please share your thoughts and experiences, and any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Come on guys, need some inputs before I buy. I've been wanting to get the ZD for a long time now, but the Fujitsu seems a better quality product.

Please share your thoughts.

I have the ZD8080us and I love it. I have had no problems with it at all. The brightview screen is wonderful. I don't know anything about the Fujitsu N6000 so I can't compare the two.

Yeah, I've only heard good things about the ZD8000. Anyone had experience with the N6000??

Is it true that the zd8000 overheats too much, and has very noisy fans??
What do you mean by overheats. I've never had any problems with mine, as for the fans no they are not noisy at all.

The N6010 does get hot. But the heat is not felt by the user.
When I say it gets hot, I mean through temperature sensors. It has good cooling therefore the unit itself does not feel hot nor warm. Somepeople report that fan is sorta noisy, but IMO, it isnt - it bearable.

From posts I've been reading, it's my understanding that zd8000s tend to get hot, and heat is transferred to the keypad and keyboard, and everywhere around it. Not so much with n6000s. But that does not bother me, not even the noisy fans. It's a desktop replacement after all.

Love my 6010, build quality IS awesome, heat dissapated nicely, internal temp never above 62-63 C whle playing HL2, fans don't bother me at all, screen is 2nd to none, and HP customer support didn't impress me so I sent it back. (was a compaq, but since HP owns them figure it woud be similar)

Are you talking about the Compaq X6000series?? If so, that is the exact same system as the ZD8000series, only difference is the HP badge. Did you actually owned both systems?? If so, what's another difference between the two, besides customer service and screen quality.

No,afraid this wasn'ta 6000 series... was a number of months ago and U don't recall model #. went with a Dell i8600 instead (I know...no big improvement there ) but as I said I had a relatively simple generic question and after a frustrating search through the manual for the hidden tech support number called it numerous times only to have it ring endlessly and never be answered. Figured if I ever really did have a major problem that would get real old very fast so I sent it back.

Ruper103,

I customized a zd 8000 at the beginning of the year. To answer one of your questions...they notebook does get hot and you can feel it in the mouse/keyboard area right where your wrists lay. I sent mine back within 1 week b/c of a combination of issues. First, the bloody thing wouldn't connect to a wireless network. I tried both the built-in wireless card as well as an external card. Second, the screen would always freeze up when trying to play Call of Duty. After a couple days of researching, I found that the freeze is attributed to the drivers (I had the 128 v/c). Unfortunately, ATI does not support the notebook drivers rather they refer you to HP. Well, that really didn't help considering HP refused to acknowledge the problem. I don't know if they ever corrected it and/or released new drivers, so you may check into that. Finally, the heating issue had me concerned. While I'm not a fan of hot wrists, I was more concerned about the temperature of the internal components. I will say HP has an excellent return policy (one reason I bought from them). They will let you ship it back to them within 30 days (no shipping fees) and they will refund ALL of your money (pending the product is in the same condition you got it). I had my refund within 1 week and am now continuing my endless search for a suitable notebook. Hope this helps.

My friend has a zd8000 It looks pretty good and looking at the screen was pretty nice. For me when I used his laptop it wasn't that hot warmish..

My friends zd8000 does not get "THAT" hot. It gets a little bit warm around the wrists, but nothing too serious. And the fans, "NOT" that noisy, not at all. It might get worse if you use several applications at the same time, but so far none of the common complaints has bothered me. And yes, the ZD8000 is very good looking. Very nice piece of hardware, i think it even looks better than the N6000

And Virtual Scrolling just ROCKS. It's so awesome that I don't see how I managed without it before.
