That's where the DVD+/-RW drive goes.

hey Timebomb, did you try the 6800 ultra in the inspiron 9300 yet?

Also, does the xps2 AC adapter work with the inspiron 9300?

Thanks

Not yet, I have an 9300 on order though. It's a no frills bottom of the line 1.6GHZ. Ship date is scheduled for 4/15/05. So chances are I'll have it in front of me by 4/7/05.

The wireless card goes on the underside. You unscrew one of the bottom panels and it snaps in like a stick of RAM.

There are also 2 antennae leads that connect to the wireless card. If you look closely at the picture there is a WHITE and a BLACK wire with GOLD connectors which snap on to the wireless card.

These antennae wires are routed through the XPS2/9300 chassis to the LCD. If you plan removing your LCD from the chassis, you would have to disconnect the wire leads from the wireless card first.

It's a Dell 1350.

Broadcom = Dell

I always configure my laptop with Dell/Broadcom Wireless NICs. I've never had a problem with them.

Yep, those antennae leads are there even if you don't have a wireless NIC installed.

Just buy a wireless NIC from Dell Spare Parts and you're ready to go.

I'm guessing that ram would be installed on the underside as well since I wasn't able to locate it in the pictures of the mobo.

You can see the cover for the Ram compartment to the right of the pic at the top of the page.

Timebomb a question about the NIC

Hello,

have been looking at the wonderful pictures you've taken and i just wondered have you noticed whether the Network Interface Card is actually onboard of if it is removeable.

Reason I ask is I friends has a shiny new 9300 but his workplace has 10/100/1000 (Gigabyte?) networking and his 9300 is only 10/100.

So he has thought perhaps it is just a matter of upgrading the N.I.C. so he can do the heavy file moving at the same speed as the rest of his company office. So far noone in Dell has been able to help him and Dell doesn't or won't sell the XPS Gen2 in Australia.

Cheers

Its not going to happen.

The Integrated Nic card is part of the motherboard of the I9300. Only way its going to be changed is if the Motherboard is swapped out.

Is it possible to get detailled photos of the Sigmaterl chipset and speakers connectors ?

I'm really sure that an internal mic can be added.
