PC2100 Memory in an Inspirion 8600

I amreplacing the motherboard in my 8500 with a 8600 motherboard with a 1.5GHZ P-m processor. My question is will the computer boot if I put the PC2100 memory from the 8500? I was told it would with a performance loss which is acceptable as I will be updating to PC2700 in the near future. Has anybody rund pc2100 in a 8600?

I am pretty sure that PC2100 will work in an 8600. But like you said, you will be taking a performance hit.

Yeah, it will work perfectly well, as mentioned there will be a slight performance loss by comparison to 333MHz RAM, but this will be unnoticeable in a normal operating environment (only is programs with high access activity would the difference be noticed).
