man ! I'm so glad that i cancel my xps gen2

I saw that Windows XP 64 Bit went GOLD

then I saw the benchmarks between Pentium M and Turion 64 in gaming ..

gaming performance: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03...iongaming4.pdf

Digital media performance:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03...iondigital.pdf

Office performance:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03...rionoffice.pdf

after seen this I'm very happy... of not getting the XPSG2

some turino laptops out there:

I know is old news but man .. no one told me to wait on the dell forums !

AMD > Intel for games... Always.
Lol all those benchmarks were from AMD... obviously AMD is going to beat Intel because they were made by AMD!!! But I'm sure Turion is a bit better than PM.

ROTFL! You're kidding, right? Those benchmarks are totally rigged as they compare a Turion with a "mobility radeon" to an integrated "intel extreme". Also they compared a low power Centrino to a high-power Turion.

You're kind of making yourself look stupid :P

Are there any Turion machines out with a 6800 Go?

But one this is Intel Pentium-M outperform AMD-64 in video and audio encoding...

You have a point. I wouldn't exactly trust the reviews done by the manufacturer of any product. Ever.

Until I see two products go head to head by a reputable review site, then I will be satisfied.

ok you guys have a few points ... /.. but still .. prices on pentium M's are suppose to go down .. any way soon ... So.. maybe xpsgen2 will go down too just like the 9300

But the Pentium M is overclocked so it doesn't actually beat the other CPUs.

Well said, the FX55 there is clocked at 2.6GHz, to be fair, we would have to compare PM 2.4 with FX55 clocked at 3.2 GHz (which is routinely done through upping the system BUS and increasing the multiplier), which will be 25% faster than the FX55 in the graph.

It's suspicious that the AMD64s that are 130nm arch and 90nm arch got the same score.... seems trivial to me :-/

Why is it so surprising?

They are the same chip with the same components at the same clock speeds, with the only difference being a die shrink.

Video encoding? You mean the results on this page?

http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q1.../index.x?pg=11

There I'm seeing even the overclocked one alternate between near the FX-55 and near dear last.

yes the over clocked p - m is on top

but the non overclocked is on top of the other amd chips besides the FX look at it.

though amd used a GME intel example... hm intergrated graphics ..

Encoding has always been AMD's weakest point, so that's not that surprising. In most other tasks, the A64 will run away in a competition with top clocked PM.
Even the non-oc p-m 2.0 is faster than most AMD-64 upthere too.
turion still get the upper hand, remember as soon as MS finally launches XP64, 64bit apps will come out and the PM will now be obsolete

There is a bunch of AMD haters, for those

"In Soviet Russia, AMD hates YOU"

Intel fans gotta understand Intel sucks and their technology is coming to an end.

But remember, those benchies are using the Dothan with the 400 MHz FSB, not the new Sonoma with the 533 MHz FSB

Not to mention Turions will not be clocked anywhere as fast the desktop A64s.

Of course, the Turion is AMDs answer to the P-M honestly I believe they both will score very very very close to each other.
