Keyboard problem, could use some help

Thread Starter
I have a keyboard problem and it seems to be quite persistent ...

every time I press "K" or ";", it types a "L" along with it so I constantly have to correct the extra L every time

Heres how it would look like if I did not correct it in a sentence :

KLaren:L a very kleen and klind person ;l I liklle her and her kleyboard kleys :L)

see what I mean

I took off the kleyboard to inspect it but I saw nothing wrong with it at first glance...

I was wondering if you can take off keyboard keys individulay or something since the problem is probably with the connectors (something might have infiltrated my keyboard and jammed itself between those keys...

Anyone has an idea of what to try and what NOT to try ? hehe

Probably just a faulty keyboard, get Dell to send you a new one and see if that remedies the problem. It will be covered under the warrenty.

I had a simillar problem when I spilled something on my keyboard, actually, it was more severe. You'll probably need to get the keyboard replaced.

They would not cover mine under warrenty. When I asked why they sent me an email of their TOC saying keyboards and mice are not covered under warrenty.

The upside to this was it was only $15 for my 8600 keyboard.

Perhaps your warrenty was over or you got a rep that reads fine print because I had no problem having them replace a keyboard. They even let me keep the faulty one.

Have you tried reinstalling the keyboard driver?
This was happening on an old Gateway I had.
